Think you're in luck.

I had to buy this straight away. HAWT!

Could anyone with this recommend how to enjoy it online? I bought it a few months ago and found 'out of the box' (and patched) the online mode was a bit of a wet fish (even though i constantly hear people rave about the epic battles). I heard mods and stuff is the route to go but couldn't get anywhere...

Thanks just purchased :), not too sure how the online will be but from what i have seen it looks brilliant providing there are enough people to play it with

Didn't cost me much TBH

about £410 for the system, which includes a Core 2 Quad Q8400, G41 Motherboard, 4GB Ram, a Sapphire 1GB 5770, 1TB HDD, a 22inch LG 1080p Monitor, Logitech MX Mouse and Keyboard, Xbox 360 controller, with W7 64bit and the guys steam library (with about 25 games)

Excellent price, been waiting for this to drop for a long time... especially since Red River sucks bigtime

Awesome, amazing price. Bought and heat added with thanks OP.

My friend bought all of the ARMA content 2 days ago full price, boy does he feel ****

It doesnt make sense - Arma 2 is £4, and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead is £12 - yet combined on Steam they are £18 ...

EDIT: Just looked and Arma 2 price is very good, but Operation Arrowhead is cheaper retail - gamestracker.com/buy…htm

Depends what you like really, mostly there will be coop games running on servers and most of them will be running some form of domination (coop game made by a member of the community where you take on various town in random order unlocking vehicles etc. as you go). Don't expect it to be anything like a traditional online fps though. It might take a while before you get what makes it so appealing to some and you'll need a lot of time to put into it.

edit: forgot to mention the mods, the most popular of which is ACE II - it has a massive amount of tweaks/new features and is the most popular one used online - you use the SIX updater which automatically installs and downloads/updates ACE along with a collection of about 100+ other optional mods. The modding community is excellent thanks to the amount of customisation available in the game (if you've got the talent then you can do anything you can imagine with the engine). Check out the forums mod section for everything from WW2 mods to alien, and the obligatory undead mods.

just finished downloading, if people have problems activating the game due to an error message like i did i found some steps that worked for me to get it working. Right click on the game in the library and select properties, then go to the local files tab and select verify integrity of game cache. Then close and restart steam.

I have only played for around an hour on the "boot camps" but this game is unbelieveable well worth the £4 there is so much that you can do but it is very realistic and i can see it taking a while to get used to

how long is this deal on for

Midweek Madness
Offer Ends Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time.

runs smoothly on my i5 (top one cant remember model) custom build with gtx260 graphics and 8gb ram.............runs like a dog on my athlon 64 3200 based acer...thats the prob with brands / non custom pc's...ok its old

brill game.....ruddy hard but a PROPER shooter

run around like a headless chicken past static enemies like in COD and you will last seconds!!

eg, in COD you shoot someone and you just hide and the others will eventually go away

in Arma2 you shoot someone and they will hunt you down unless you run away for ages, sit there like a COD camper and youll die.....even sneak up behind you!!

I've always been interested in this. I like other 'Army Sim' games like 'Op Flashpoint and I used to play 'America's Army' an awful lot (COD Fanboys play that and let's see how you do). So this appeals to me. However I don't know If I will get a decent FPS out of it. Could anybody please kindly tell me the 'real' spec (not the minimum spec they advertise along with the game which is usually hogwash) it requires to run at a decent pace with at least medium detail? Muchas gracias.

Im running a

Quad Q6600 @ 2.7
4GB DDR2
9800GTX+

at a res of 1440x900

Any idea of how that'll handle it?
