Must be something wrong with yours mine does it within seconds.
P.S. why would you put it in the bin when you've got asda 1 year warranty?

Edit: I have to add the kettle is brilliant, I cannot fault it in the least. For the price it is an absolute steal.
I did not buy any of the toasters as they seem to be abit on the bulky side.

How does the blue glowing ability enable you to fill the kettle with the amount you need? I used to have a bog standard one and I was able to do this fine. Maybe I'm just talented.

Maybe for those who are visually impaired?
This looks identical to the kettle I bought from Sainsburys which had a Which best buy logo on it and was more expensive! Good kettle for the money.
rapid boil = joke. It takes forever.
Also the thermostat is crap, it will sometimes boil away until you stop it which I reckon could be a fire hazard if it boiled dry.
Avoid, even if they pay you £9
Chinese made junk, its quite exciting owning one as your always wondering what will break first the seals or the thermostat

I have to second this, it does not always cut off when boiled, very dangerous.
I have this kettle and have never had any issues. HOT!!
Boiling dry: they all contain thermal fuses to protect against boiling dry.
I would not buy something like that made out of plastic. fact is plastic leaches toxic chemicals when heated.
Fact is you should never get out of bed either, in case you have an accident in the home.

Do you wear a tin-foil hat too just in case the radio waves start controlling your branez
Heat added, just bought black fridge/freezer and black cooker, going for red and black theme so this kettle and 4 slice toaster is perfect for £24.
Had 2 of these.. Customer services had to arrange their delivery service to come and collect mine after evdn the 2nd one had a problem with the lid not opening when pressing the button.
Bought today, not great. Very plasticy and really does feel cheap. Plus, the lid won't open properly.

Going back tomorrow.
I should add 'not great, plasticy and cheap' in the title next time, oh and in the description I should put 'lid opens half way when button is pressed and requires human interference to open it fully' too.

I would still recommend this kettle for 9 quid though.
oskarito - bin bad place for unwanted usable goods - you should have advertised it on freecycle or given it to a local charity.
