Cheers! Hope it really nice!

I'm struggling to believe this is good meat and it doesn't even appear to state which cut it is; I don't think ASDA is well known for the quality of its meat. I'd love someone to claim otherwise as it is a good price.

Morrisons are selling british beef for £4.50 a kilo at the moment if that helps

I hate the ambiguous names for joints of meat. Is it so hard to just put what part of the animal you're eating on the packaging. Also the same for casserole and stewing steak.

Annoyingly brisket used to be this price until recently and then it got a disproportionately high increase per kilo then other cuts. It's supposed to be a cheap cut, for once my butchers is even cheaper than Asda.

It is just about guaranteed that it is going to be either Topside or Silverside, both equally tasteless and not a lot of use for anything, which is why it is always cheap.

At least the brisket has a chance of having some flavour, although will require very long slow pot-roasting to be tender, whereas topside or silverside is still tasteless when it is reduced to mush; trouble is some people don't like the texture and the fattiness brisket has.

My tip is to hang on for the cheap leg of lamb offers which are beginning to come through - unfortunately still about £7.50. or £7 per Kg, but even at that price will make a great value flavoursome roast and not have to be reduced to a tasteless mush before it's edible.

The big info missing, for me, is the source of the meat!

"Packed In United Kingdom". What on earth is that supposed to tell anyone?

It should have quite comprehensive production details on the pack, probably sourced from several producers and/or slaughterhouses: gov.uk/gui…eme
