Asda Car Breakdown Cover for only £6.16 a month

Found 15th Aug 2010
I noticed Asda are doing Car Breakdown Cover for £73.92 or £6.16 per month. It seems a good price compared with the RAC and AA for the level of cover included.

Has anyone used Asda before for breakdown cover and were they reliable?

I dont have Tesco clubcard so cant get that deal, thanks anyway

I use rescuemycar.com 32 quid for roadside rescue recovery and homestary, no excess, no Limit on callouts, used them for 3 years and are spot on, also 7 quid cashback roughly thru quidco

I've heard the Asda breakdown cover is that they send the nearest home delivery driver to you with a towrope.

Have you actually used them when you broke down and was there any hidden charges.

Good place to research is the MoneySavingExpert guide to the topic:

Isn't always 100% comprehensive & uptodate but does a damn fine job.

I think some of the lower quotes mentioned above are basically because they aren't comparing like with like - eg they exclude HOME COVER (ie car not working at/near one's registered base).

It was from an instore promotion.
It's really £52 but with a £10 Sainsbury's voucher.

lololol

yeh a smart price rope.....then they leave without you!

with gem at the mo......was with the aa...never again....had their top package and called them once just before renewal....it was during the snow and my car wouldnt start but despite the top package and not used them that year they still said can we come tomorrow!! after alot of hassle and 3 calls later i said if they dont come in 2 hours i wont renew in 7 days!

they were there in 30 mins.....i didnt renew....they wanted £240 to renew (still £180 on phone) !!

went with Gem - same level of cover for about £70ish...not used them yet but have good reviews/ratings and they are prob the cheapest breakdown except the rubbish claim back ones

unlike AA who will charge you a fortune and turn up next day

We pay £5 something a month with Green Flag for their full cover (barring cover in Europe which we wouldnt use). Cold from me.

Just get AA or RAC through Quidco or Topcashback. It'll cost around £45ish a year for you and your partner driving any car for Roadside and Relay. More for homestart.

Yes, yes I know, cashback is not guaranteed blah blah. Never had a problem getting it from AA.

never had a problem with AA...hic

I read somewhere that there was an excess of £40 per breakdown, do you know if this is true

I have been with Asda Breakdown cover a few years and used their service a few times I have found them to be very efficient they've never let me down. I would recommend them
