All good news for the consumer

Pretty pathetic drop, after the news yesterday that they are selling petrol for 99.7p per litre at three garages in Birmingham. If a small independent operator can do this I'm certain all our major supermarkets and fuel companies can also.

Still good price compared to some places. Have some heat. We can't all drive up to Birmingham

Small? Harvest are a huge company, they provide 10% of the oil the UK uses.

Also ASDA is the only one that does national pricing, so it has to even out the cost whether its sending it to the top of Scotland or five mins from the refinery.

Always pleased to see a price drop, filling at the weekend so hopefully a couple more pence off by then!

ASDA will get my custom, if it wasn;t for them, we;d still be paying 136p a litre.

Or alternatively I might by a single litre from Shell for 3p more, and run my car for ever

I think he is referring to the drop by the franchis'ee

I tweeted about the Birmingham garages to them earlier. Wonder if they were going to drop it anyway. Let's hope other places follow!

Possibly but the site is run by an independent operator who only owns and operates the three sites,

Fuel near me is still 1.09p and that's the cheapest

Tesco cutting prices by 2p from this afternoon for petrol and diesel. Morrisons expected to follow suit along with Sainsbury's.

Supermarket fuel is rubbish so the saving is non existent. You'll be running out of fuel quicker so it's a false economy.

ASDA are dropping 2p a litre each time, if they were so keen to drop their prices, wouldn't we see 1p drops more frequently?

My point exactly.

Harvest fuel stations on A435. Petrol 97.9.
Diesel 102.9. Supermarket ain't doing any favours.

Where is this exactly on the A435?

was 103.7 in wembley asda this morning for petrol.......

I personally only use Shell Nitro+ these days, The mig just runs that little bit smoother and does a few more mpg IMO.

Saying that there's nothing to argue about here, Each to their own an all that, After all it would be a boring place if we where all the same

You've posted 2 deals in 2 years and both went freezing cold. Something says your judgement isn't to be admired! X)

Sainsburys are already £0.002p more expensive in Leicester Fosse Park

Come on asda drop it to under the £ rather than drip feeding us weekly!!!

The Harvest garages are charging less for unleaded, but more more for diesel.
They are basically subsidising one with the other to get some publicity.

He drives an extra 15 miles to buy it cheaper.

Paid 99.9p FOR DIESEL at Tesco yesterday (albeit using my Clubcard discount). Haven't done that for a long time. New car getting 37mpg too!

All supermarket filling stations are to be questioned take a look at morrisons for eg 1 filling station can have a difference of between 3—5p why is this I wonder and it's nothing to do with distance

my local esso is 117 petrol 120 diesel and he wonders why no one uses him

I've got 7p off a litre for Tesco on my clubcard for january and my petrol light is on, loving the petrol drops at the moment!

For me, I ALWAYS either use Shell/Texaco/Esso, and I did a little experiment. Filled with supermarket three times up full, noted mpg, filled with shell three times, noted mpg, same with Texaco and Esso

And I worked out for the price difference it was worth it (for me) to use the premium brands because of the improved mpg. Shell also apparently add in some additives to help protect your engine, and Esso apparently does the same. Now this might all be ****, but I definitely see some difference by buying from a more premium brand. Also, NORMALLY the Esso near me is just 0.2p more expensive than Asda. They've not really put their prices down as of late (when the price wars started) though.

Its time to compaign and lose the point 7 or 9 after the pound and pence. For insanity there is no such thing £1,03.9 just charge £1,04 for flips sake!!!

I'd rather the 0.1p or 0.3p less. Every little helps and all that

Put in 20 litres, that's a 6p saving - just over what a carrier bag will cost us from October, in England.

Morrisons and Tesco only drop their prices based on local demand, as I said before had ASDA not started the ball rolling the other supermarkets would still be charging us 136p a litre. Morrisons always seem to be a penny more expensive than the cheapest, I guess its to pay for the points they give you or the convenience factor. I find it hard to judge as my local is near an ASDA and Tesco, but if they're out on their own with only a BP garage for competition, they are never that cheap.
