Picked up the budget ASDA DAB radio in-store (Swindon) for a tenner. Was previously trailed on here at £15. Dunno if this is online or nationwide.

Look, I was able to buy a Young Boy for 3 quid as well - didn't know ASDA did that!!!

I picked a couple of these up at the weekend (Brum) and am very pleased apart from the one I've run on batteries. After around 2 hours of radio use it's used a brand new set of Duracells. Is this a DAB problem/issue? Radio itself looks nice and also has FM.

2 things...........

1. I had one of these and took it straight back they are bloody awful!

2. Did you buy this in the Bangkok branch of ASDA to get the Young Boy for £3!!!!!!!!

Battery life is a nightmare on the early generation DABs. I had a Panasonic that would eat a set of (rechargeable) batteries in minutes. These things are really only good as mains radios. I now own a portable Roberts ECO which lasts for ages on a set of 4 AA rechargeables... but it cost more than a tenner!

what was the young boy?

£3.00 by the look of it

My OH picked up one of these the other day. I was a little dubious about the sound quality when I saw the price. I was right to be-tinny as f00k, so much so, turning the volume above 2 or 3 makes my ears bleed! Hence why I didn't post the deal!:D

The whole concept of DAB is a problem.
Stand beside the aerial, Bubbling mud.
Have to turn the radio round to tune into a diferent station.
DAB is the Emperor's New Clothes.
AM/FM was never this bad.
Try Internet radio.
Much better.

The Young Boy was probably another sort of tranny...

This whole Digital lark has not gone smoothly with a lot of radios.

Yes, that's the one.

What, the young boy? I think I would have been too...

I have a DAB radio at work and it was a bargain buy at ASDA. Unfortunately it has one speaker so for some songs all I can hear is one speaker worth so if it is a duet it sounds more like a monologue e.g. all Papas and no Mamas in California Dreaming.

Is this radio the same perhaps?

We bought one of these, it's rubbish, tinny, poor signal reception in DAB and very prone to interference.

Heat added for young boy price!!

I hear asda sell some good thai soup too... "cream of sum yung guy"

pinched that from waynes world!

This.

My DAB has not been used since I got some internet radios.

how old was the young boy?

It's a shame Michael Jackson isn't still alive, he'd have snapped the lot up at £3

bought one of these a few weeks ago at £15 for the V festival - the aerial snapped clean off within an hour while i was wiggling it for clearer reception. You get what you pay for I suppose.

The Young Boy....X)X)X)

Good use of a camera to take a pic of a receipt and not the radio! I think I know what a receipt looks like

Do you?
Really?
When I bought my Roberts RD41, a £140 radio that has to be turned round by 90 degrees to change between TalkSport and radio 5 or suffer "Bubbling mud" .....what exactly did I pay for?

Bloody hell. Better not wiggle the aerial of the £3 young boy then if that happened to the £15!

Message posted in work, Radio at home. Also, some people always reply 'where is the evidence you got it for £X'

It costs a tenner - I am not expecting much. I will use mine for camping hols. So you have to rotate it 90 degrees when you change channels. No big deal really. It may be tinny, but if it gets nicked from our tent I won't really care. Would be very sad if my Roberts DAB got nicked.

Wait til the Daily Mail hears about Asda selling Young Boys... especially at £3... prob the ones that stitch their jeans
