yes, bright red dry skin all down my arms, went away as soon as i stopped using it, horrible harsh stuff :-(

Thanks for posting, voted hot as at 9p you know what to expect really

Same here, OH been using it for her baths, though now she has bright red dry skin, though down her legs.
She went to her gp, which he believes it's this stuff causing it as he's been presented with similar cases recently all of which have been using it.

Though i've had no reaction to it at all.

Be warned.

I'm a 4th year med student currently doing a dermatology rotation and I thought it's worth pointing out that in the 3 weeks since starting dermatology, I've already seen 2 cases of exacerbations of eczema in clinic that turned out to be directly attributable to the patients using Asda shower gel. So, based on that, I'd strongly avoid this. Personally, I wouldn't even want to wash my hands with it - it's only 9p for a reason.

Check the ingredients. Alot of the cheaper shower gels in all the major stores list as one of the active ingredients:

formaldehyde

Go figure. Embalm myself with this product? No problem! Wash with it? No way!

Wash in something decent like Body Shop or Lush. Use this stuff to kill you enemies...

Cheers for the answer. Sounds just like the stuff I need for cleaning my paintbrushes or washing my hands when i've been working on cars:-D

I hear its good for cleaning pavements, driveways and patios!

Sounding better by the minute:w00t:

oh dear. nevermind ...

The OP's heart was in the right place.

As the last post, OP heart in the right place, but this stuff sound lethal.

I think I will give this one a miss. After all the money I save using this site, I should still be able to afford to buy my dove body wash

Lidl "Sport" shower gel is 13p for 300ml, and doesn't contain formaldehyde.

Uhmmm, I must say guys 9p is too cheap!I would never use. Why would I use this on my hands? This is the part of the body we wash the most and certainly needs the best rather than the worst products. So I am not sure if it's hot......

Surely there must be some students out there who will consider it a good deal.......think of the beer money needed!

Not that all students wash,mind!:whistling:

9 pence? that is criminal. some one some where has had to make that. put it in a bottle that has had to be made. then the product has to be labelled put in a box then dispatched. for 9 p? how do they do it? rotten ingredients that no doubt destroy the environment and they use cheap labour. there are deals and there are deals. this aint one of them. go for a nice organic or pure product. you only have one skin. dont be tight..

I use the Lidl ones too. can't complain with 13p a bottle. I was going to kick myself for buying so many of them when I saw that ASDA had shower gel for 9p, luckily the ADSA ones seem to suck, as said from other members.

But do you know this for a fact? Would you be interested to find out that there is NO legal obligation for a company to disclose the use of formaldehyde in these products up to a certain level? Interesting the shocking things you can find out on google.....

(for the record I buy mine from Lidl too, but not the sport one, can't think of the name offhand)

Perhaps the level below which they have to declare is minute? Anything can contain all sorts of nasty chemicals in very small quantities - you're not going to have an apple pie listing pesticides on its ingredients, are you?

All I can say is that I've never heard any complaints about this shower gel, and I myself use it every day.

i don't know why people use cheap nasty stuff on their bodies

I have been using this shower gel for years. No problems at all. My only complaint is the fancy container it comes in. I have just bought 18 - 250ml shower gel dispensers @ £0.08p each. I would have liked to buy a 5 litre container and refill the shower gel dispensers myself. Perhaps I've got skin as tough as old leather, or are we all becoming a load of wimps?
