Asda storage jar

Not sure if this qualifies as a deal as it's always been the same price as far as I know.

I was looking for an interesting and inexpensive clear glass jar for coffee when I found this on Asda's grocery website. It didn't give the capacity or dimensions but looked great for the job, and at £1.00 I thought it would turn out to be tiny.

NOPE. It's a large 1.5 litre storage jar - approx. dimensions: H16.5cm, W 17cm, D 11cm. Way too big for coffee, but makes a perfect storage jar for tea bags - and sweeties, rice, pasta and probably much more.

The lid is nasty recycled silver grey plastic (budding banksy's might be able to change that) but is ergonomically designed for easy opening, and the jar is practical for everyday home use.

Small embossed logo on lid is "Pasabahce", a long established Turkish manufacturer of domestic and commercial glassware of all types.

Delivery wasn't an issue as I just included them with my normal home delivery shopping and I don't know if they are generally available instore anyway.

Wasn't sure whether to post it or not, but Asda are famous for acquiring stock of non standard products then not bothering to restock when they run out - so it probably won't be available forever. I bought three just in case.

Oh nostalgic, growing up we had one of these for biscuits, and then I think to a lesser extent at Christmas it was nuts with fruit?

Anyway have some heat

this has been for £1 for almost a year now in my local asda. really good quality. same jar sells for £1.50 in tescp

i brought a few of these 3 months ago , use them for lentils, They are good quality and its easy to take things out because they are big.

I bought these last christmas to make up sweet jars for the kids christmas

Original Poster

Pic of the lid, which would be quite stylish if it weren't for the grey plastic:

And the top is big enough for both big and little hands X)

Nice jar but after a year of use the lid tends to come off even when shut tight. Specially if you pick up the jar from the lid.
