I love these, reminds me of when I lived in Spain . Probably a good thing that I dont live close to an Asda though as it would mean more clutter for the cupboard! Heat for the price though.
They made a great coffee, very nice crema.
Buy cheap buy twice.. Do yourself a favour and buy a Bialetti one - it will last forever.

Good advice....even Bialetti don't last forever, but you can replace individual parts cheaply.

So in this example.. buy three times, as the cheapest price for a Bialetti is £15 + delivery?
These are made of cheap thin aluminium. It's supposed to be bad for you.

Do yourself a favour and at least get a stainless steel one.
another vote her for a Bialetti, which these days has a little "nodule" to press in & around to de-pressurize (in extreme cases) just give it a rub prior to use as they can scale up (curse 3/4's of this country's water! ...when we have it:{

Not for a 6 cup. 1 cup maybe.
I bought one of these, but the second time I used it, it developed a pinhole in the side and sprayed out a fine jet of scalding water. The Bialetti ones have a safety valve above the water fill line in case the pressure is too high. I'm all for economising, but I'll be careful next time when it's something for heating water under pressure!
Great piece ok kit for a fiver we have a 6 shot and a 3 shot one. The 3 shot one gets used daily.

These are safe theyve also got a pressure valve on the side.

When the 3 shot dies i will prob get this one from ikea as its stainless steal

Good price - I bought a similar one from Debenhams some time back and they are great.

Every single Italian home in Christendom has one of these trust me.
Perfectly decent and good for the price. Beware though - needs to be very carefully balanced on my gas hob
I've never used one, they always seemed like a ball ache to use.
Do you use fine ground coffee in these? Are they better than a bog standard 15 bar espresso machine?
excellant deal ...............or you could buy a £5 coin instead.

1. Buy a decent one, stainless steel, ally (as this is), they corrode.
2. The high quality ones will brew perfectly, the cheap ones tend to be too hot (espresso is bitter when made too hot)
3. You need good quality espresso ground coffee.

You put water in the bottom, coffee grounds go in a retainer above the water, put on the hob on a low heat.

Wait for it to cycle (few mins)

Fresh espresso.

Wash the jug out immediately.

On my backpacking round Italy these were everywhere and make amazing coffee, takes about a minute to make coffee.

Everyone in italy always told me never wash it out just a quick rinse every now and then and never use detergant.

Poor advice.
You cant avoid aluminium in your everyday life and our diet is packed with aluminium, no matter who you are
The aluminium on this and other cooking pots is completely inert and wont go into your food/drink/body.
