Tempted. If only they made it easier to play your downloaded games on the lite when you’re out and about and the standard when you’re at home.

Its pretty easy. Make the Lite the primary (wont require wifi to play digital games) And the other one the secondary, which will require a wifi connection. Have mine set up like this and it works perfectly.

I think it is a bit more awkward then the post from Jayswa suggests. I had a lite from release for a month an ultimately sold it as i felt it just didn't really have a home(the console is clearly a great device however).

The idea of making the light primary is good in theory, but I found it just fell over, you cant just swap the memory card between either devices(so if you only have one it makes it awkward for downloading games) and it makes it awkward to take your standard switch to then use the joycons for local multiplayer where an internet connection is not available, this for me was a huge issue but mileage will vary in regards to that.
Lets not forgot cloud saves can be a bit awkward as not all games (99% do however) have it, you also need to be a member of the Nintendo online service to use this feature, yes you can save transfer, but for fluidity its not quite how it should be.

In time I think ninty will sort this as it is clear that it's part of their market as they allow the same user across both devices, but it isn't there yet an until it is, i can't recommend it for that purpose.

There is a decent video done by Wulfden that explains it better. I will try and find it for you.

I think it is this one youtube.com/wat…NwY

Worth noting, I am not saying it does't work (pretty sure he doesn't say this either) but it could be a lot better. Being able to have a primary switch and primary lite registered to your user would likely fix many of the issues.

from my experience it took minutes to make it primary & transfer saves, I didnt factor in NSO and the SD side, As I am a subscriber and luckily had a spare 128gb lying around that I slotted into the Lite. But since doing the above I’ve had no issues, OG stays docked and connected to wifi and Lite stays on airplane mode. Havent had any clashing issues, As I only use the OG for local MP games like MK8/Smash and Ringfit and the Lite for everything else!

Can you return the item if unopened and have original receipt? I know some places are funny with returns on electrical products and I have never purchased from them before.

You may know... I have the original Switch, I play a few games on a train to London (so it's only on WiFi to do the original game download).

I'd like to get my eldest a Lite, and there's a few games of mine (digital) she enjoys, but she'll use Physical mostly.

Can she play my games? She'll have her save files on hers and mine on mine? It won't try and "sync" them up or anything?

She'll mostly play at home (WiFi) but may take it round her cousins house to play (No WiFi). She won't ever play "online" games though.

But any other problems foreseeable?
Can I just buy and use the switch lite on its own?, I do not have a main switch.

Is the switch lite mainly designed for people with a main switch?...

You can use the Switch Lite as is, nothing else required.
It's basically a smaller version of the normal Switch, only meant for handheld use.
(You can never connect to the TV however, even with a switch dock)
Asda currently best price in U.K., if you know anyone in your family or friends that works for them with their staff discount this will come down to around £152 or £136 on their double discount day which I believe is 13th & 14th December.
Just noticed these in ASDA Dunfermline, good price.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been meaning to get back to you and offer insight but haven't had the chance until now.

So my understanding is this, physical games there are no problems with her playing your games, however digital games there is. The only way you can play a digital game without being connected to wifi is for the console to be the designated main console.
Also while currently on the one switch(currently the primary), any user created on that system can access the digital games and play them. If you introduce another console(in this case a lite) and it isn't the primary console, only the original user(purchaser) of the games can play it on that system. Due to this there should not be any issues with saves as they are tied to the user.

It seems to me the question here is, who sacrifices the ability to play the digital games?
Note that if hypothetically you choose your console to remain the primary, she can still have her user on that system and play your games on that system wherever it may be, just on her own lite it will just be for physical purchases or games she has purchased herself.
In theory if you have Nintendo online there is cloud saves for most titles that can be a bit awkward but my prior post reflects this.

The two links below should help you, I have tried my best to cover what you want to know, an I am fairly certain I have done so correctly.

That has the same problems as eluded to my prior post before I replied to yours.

Yes your user can be on both and be the only user, but that will bring up complications in regards to saves if you are not a Nintendo online member and also if you are, with cloud saves. So separate progress is practically a no go(some games only allow you to have the one save file).

Also regardless of the above, if it is just the one user on both, the non primary console has to be online to play the digital games, otherwise only the primary console can play digital games offline.
Just picked a turquoise one up in ASDA Bridgend after being out of stock for a few days. Still at 169.
Heat added picked one up for my son’s Birthday 🏼
