Asda to reduce cost of Petrol & Diesel by 2p per litre (1.20p Petrol / 1.24p Diesel) @ ASDA

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

The supermarket giant said it has reduced the price of a litre of petrol and diesel by up to 2p - meaning drivers will pay no more than £1.20 per litre of petrol and £1.24 for diesel at Asda's 322 filling stations.

Apparently this will be the lowest price since April, it should still be lower than it currently is however - I imagine the others will follow suit shortly.

No, no you don't understand: it doesn't work; you don't pay enough for it; it hasn't got a premium brand name; it's amazing they're still allowed to sell it; you'll only get 10mpg; car won't do more than 30mph on this; they water it down; bloke down the pub said his engine blew up on it......................

IT'S THE SAME STUFF FROM THE SAME REFINERIES!
It's a bit weird that people are finding this that big a deal - if someone posts something that is less than 5% off, it gets no heat, so why does this?

A whole 2p cheaper?
Half a tank of fuel = discount of 60p
Full tank of fuel = £1.20
bmbratz22/11/2019 11:26

Excellent how is this compared to normal shell diesel?

About 4p a litre cheaper!
Went to the gym this morning, passed Asda, unleaded was 121.7, afterwards it was 119.7, glad I filled up on the way home, brings a whole new meaning to losing pounds in the gym!

Well, this will start no end of arguments with folk

Asda gets me from A to B and doesn't cause me any issues with DPF, MPG probably is slightly worse but, 1. Asda is closer to me than shell, 2. Asda is quite a bit cheaper for me than shell. 3. The difference in mpg is minor (imo) at best for me.. Overall depends how many miles your doing and where your closest station is at.

honestly I use both and I can hardly ever tell any difference. Maybe an extra mile or 2?
Also been 120.7/124.7 for a while at my local Asda
Edited by: "emmpii8" 22nd Nov 2019
It's been 1.19 per litre of petrol and £1.24 per litre of Diesel in my local Morrisons & Sainsburys for the past two weeks,
I have neither of these local sadly, not many in my area competing against each other for business so happy to receive some price decrease, great if your in an area with a load in a relatively short distance.
No big deal this ASDA is already 124.7 for diesel usual propoganda to get people to shop there

The number of times there have been posts like this they should be paying you to take the stuff away by now!

Do you think maybe the cheeky blighters put it up sometimes without putting out a press release? Surely not!

Exactly. It's like changing your energy supplier. It's still the same gas/electricity coming into your home, just a different company name on your bills.

whatever happened to the great panic that was meant to happen after those oil fields were bombed...I thought reserves couldnt cope and so the price would sky rocket. I saw great ques at my local the folowing 2 days after that news

I thought the same, if anything the prices went down!
All other supermarkets will be cutting the price of diesel and unleaded petrol by up to 2p per litre on Sat / Sun.
Hardly an Highlight when the reduction is up-to 2p and Morrison's and Sainsburys have already priced matched.
Baffled who puts these things in the Highlights section of this site
Do supermarket fuel deals based on spending £60 in store discriminate?
mol.im/a/7…597

The rest following 2p cut this week up next

2p or not 2p

Diesel's been 1.23 for over a week up here.

Good prices around at the moment
Will this have started today? Wonder if worth going or if it kick in tomorrow?
Is this there any difference with supermarkets petrol?
Down 2p then back up 4p to make up for it. Never understood why these deals get hot
mikeyfive22/11/2019 14:23

Diesel's been 1.23 for over a week up here.

A couple of months where I am
1.23 is in my Asda from a month or so
Nothing extraordinary, GBP moved to it hightest since the last 6 months, they just applied it instead of increasing their margin. Other supermarket will follow on the coming week.

Not quite, each retailer adds their own additives that clean the engine, improve combustion etc. I never noticed any difference.

Current car: 250k miles on LPG. LPG doesn't contain any additive compare to petrol or diesel, it's a good example that motor doesn't require it. If you require a super fancy fuel, it's more link to a poorly designed engine...
This would be great for me if they stocked 99 RON petrol.

I topped up at my local asda today £1.23 for diesel

Surely you gained a few pounds?
Cold!!!! was 89p in 2003.
What they mean is capped at £1.20 for unleaded and £1.24 for diesel. So my question is, are we paying more than actual going rate
simonlintern22/11/2019 15:47

Cold!!!! was 89p in 2003.

Ah, the good old days when you could squeeze the trigger just enough to get the maximum amount within that last 1p.
I haven't driven in years, cannot believe the price... but I dunno the fun of driving was sapped out of the country. Now I just travel on my 50mph Electric Bicycle, I've been to Alton Towers and back in one day on it lol.
119.7 at asda in Ferring (West Sussex). Last few weeks it's been 121.7 there.
Edited by: "lasuil" 22nd Nov 2019
119.7 near me, but Asda are a poor company so I'll head to Sainsbury's
