The spectacular debut release from Ash, 1977 was a monumental album in the brit-rock scene, reaching No.1 within the UK and has since become a platinum record. The Northern Irish (NI) band, smashed out the huge singles ‘Girl From Mars’, ‘Kung Fu’, ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Angel Interceptor’ and ‘Oh Yeah’ on the album.

    I think I read the royalties for that kept them going for a while when nu-clear sounds didn't do as well

    Wow. Was only talking about this album t'other day.

    Sort of weirdly between eras. Think they would have been absolutely huge if this came out mid 00s tbh (and it would certainly blow most new indie stuff out the water at the moment).

    It was big. But it was certainly better than it probably got credit for at the time. (edited)

    Saw them live a few months back. Absolutely brilliant. Looks like album has gone back up to £20+.

    My ex was from their home town. She used to bump into them and didn't really know their music. It's a cracking album - lots of memories for me
