The Assassin’s Creed franchise receives its 10th instalment with the release of Origins. Publisher Ubisoft is taking the series in a completely new direction with this latest edition and with the incredible performance power of the Sony’s PlayStation 4, it promises to be another blast.

Being set in Ancient Egypt for the first time, Assassin’s Creed Origins takes place in the Ptolemaic period. The plot explores the beginnings of the long conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins, who exist to bring peace by the promotion of liberty, and a cabal who quest for peace through the imposition of order.

Taking the same third-person perspective as previous games in the series, players complete a series of quests in an open-world Egyptian environment. A new feature this time around does away with the traditional ‘eagle vision’ mode, replacing it with an eagle companion named Senu. Players will then be able to take control of Senu and scout a specific location prior to arriving there.

Gamers can also tame a selection of wild animals to use as companions, similar to that of Senu, creating a multi-layered approach. Origins will see a return of naval combat, tomb raiding and underwater modes to the series. However, the game will limit the number of taller buildings available to climb in a departure for the franchise.

As well as new locations to explore, Origins also brings with it a new combat system. The ‘hit-box’ system will see players strike at whatever enemies are in range, giving a more realistic fighting style. Gamers will be able to target specific body parts or even miss entirely should they be too far away.

Elsewhere, a new arena-based combat system has been introduced. Players will have to undertake fights involving waves of enemies in increasingly difficult combinations. The final aspect of this feature is a boss fight.
Post-launch, players will have the ability to explore the world with no objectives whatsoever, giving a completely ‘sandbox’ mode to the game. In addition to this, gamers can take guided tours that reflect on significant aspects of Egyptian histor

Still got both and havent played either, stuck on spiderman and gears 5 atm.
Does anyone know if these are just the launch discs, or if they have been updated with patches at all?
A lot of value for money right there.
Have put at lest 60 hours into each of these on ps4 and with the season pass for odyssey at just £15.99 on psn I've another 30 hours plus assassins creed 3 remastered to get though

Likely to be launch discs
Great offer and great game! Good job
Yikes, thats a lot of gaming there.
Origins is amazing. Odyssey is terrible for an assassin's game.
Just looking at these boxes has spawned 5000 collectible items around my office.

Why?

I've always been put off by odyssey because it looks too similar to origins.

It's very similar to origins. But the problem is it's got nothing to do with assigns. You just spend the whole time chasing your family for nothing. You are not an assassin and there is no point in it really. They just rushed it out on the origins mechanics to make money.
Added heat and purchased earlier but forgot to comment. I loved both enough on Xbox I want to play again on Ps4
While the game looks beautiful it quickly gets boring, just a loot fest, very buggy game too, not like previous games that had gameplay.
Would rather buy both separately for around the same price than have that awful box art.

Hardly anyone has an Xbox One so it doesn't really matter.

As of the end of 2018 the PS4 had sold 6.48m in the UK and the Xbox One 4.88m. Not exactly 'hardly anyone'.

Origins story was awful. Odyssey poos all over it for story, acting, combat, additional content etc. Don't understand how someone can think origins is better in any way. Odyssey improves on everything from origins.

Most of those Xboxs are floating around ebay, second hand stores ect.
The last AC I played was Black Flag which I enjoyed but hated the bits where the story goes in and out of a futuristic building-Aspergo? which for me,ruined the immersion.

Do either of these have that side of the game?

Thanks!

I haven’t played Odyssey, but Origins definitely has some modern-day sequences. It’s a lot less than Black Flag did, thankfully; I’d say around 20min, split into several sections.

Yes they do unfortunately. It only happens very rarely just like other games. I do agree it does ruin immersion though.

Very tempted by this. But guessing these don't include the DLCs. Are the DLCs worth getting or is the main game experience enough, do you reckon?

Play the main games first and get the DLC if you need more. They are huge as it is

Same as the ps4 then?
Both great games - currently 100hrs into Odyssey, still not finished the main story arcs. True, there are no 'Assassins' in Odyssey but still a fun outing.

You’d relate to it better if you played the first game and ezio trilogy. There was a lot of third person gameplay in the future sequences such as missions, etc. Better than how black flag did it, it felt like there was a purpose
