Still seems a bit much for such an old film but the best price you can get this Remastered version of this great and slightly overlooked classic from John Carpenter.

Ahead of its time in many ways with a black protagonist, a white anti hero and, preempting the rise of gun fuelled gang violence out gunning the police, some scenes are still shocking - most noticeably the one with the girl at the ice cream van.

Benn looking for this version cheaper for a while, this as good as it gets unless you can snipe a second hand copy on eBay.

Yes I have seen it & voted hot for the money but £10 for a blu-ray of a 40 year old film? Someone is making a lot of money.

TBF it's quite a cult film, so I don't suppose they'll shift a huge amount of copies.

Looking forward to getting my copy though.

I dont blame you. The first version was far superior.

Yeah the remake completely missed everything that made the original great. Missed opportunity.
Oooh tempted. I imported the German blu ray a few years ago as I couldn't see this getting a UK release.
This is the 40th anniversary edition. I've got the boxset as it's one of my faves. Great film.
Hive.co.uk are doing it for £7.89 with free delivery.

Have you ever heard the versions that Afrika Baambaataa made, there's a few and I love them, proper original old school electro from back in the day...

Get out your lino and breakdance like you just don't care
I'll look for it...

you guys clearly have no idea about indie label/cult reissues if you think £9.99 is a lot for a re-issued film... Stick with Marvel movies from now on...

*sighs,
If I must
Don't like the cover much, can barely recognise the actors.
None of them did much before. Or after!
Wasn't this film banned from TV for years because it was so violent ? Channel 4 or Film4 showed it about 6 months ago but I hadn't see it in about 20 years.

No. Can't say its ever been banned in the UK. It isn't even that violent its more psychological.

No, it looks like a low rent reissue to be honest but I believe the remastered picture quality is pretty good, can anyone confirm, I've not had a chance to look at it yet?

I saw it on TV originally but it might be that long ago, I can't remember.

It's not that well known, I don't think, so programmers could easily not pick it when there are so many films to choose from.
I saw it on a midnight double bill with Dark Star at the Paris Pullman cinema on the Fulham road in 1980

I agree that little girls murder whilst buying ice cream must have been shocking for all the adults watching.

The splattering of tomato ketchup across her chest is chilling. With a take lasting a second with her still remaining standing but ketchuped probably was responsible for many copycat condiment assaults. Anyway, she deserved it for complaining about her order

I’m glad the resident sociopath has decided to chip in
I get your point, I watched The Hills Have Eyes last night having not seen it since I was a Bairn and couldn’t believe how tame it was (real dead dog not withstanding...)
