If you google.'Astraweb Yearly' the first link is as above for me.

It's also available for existing customers who should already be paying $11.00 per month.

Unlimited DSL - US$ 96 every year

Works out to be $8/month
No Speed Limits
20 Connections
Exactly the same as Unlimited DSL Plan
You will pay $96 every year as long as your subscription remains active. We will not raise the price.

The price of $96.00 is guaranteed as long as you renew.

Your membership will automatically renew every 12 months, until it is canceled by contacting us.

That may well prove to be a good or bad thing. Time will tell.

It's my first and only newsgroup, but I signed up as recommended strongly here. Astraweb + NZBMatrix + SABnzbd is fantastic for me.

Couch potato is one I need to add.

Great service but I'm currently on NewsDemon for £5 a month. £60 up front for a service is great but you have to be a consistent heavy downloader to make use of it really.

Didn't know about SABnzbd either.

I think NZBMatrix is excellent too. I'm very new to this, but I really couldn't understand all the fuss and invite scenario's that are required for Newzbin. NZBMatrix is just nicer on the eye, and finds all I want

NZBs'R'Us i find is better than NZBmatrix with less clutter, but they are both very good.

Good deal, I think if you pay via paypal they charge a horrible amount of money to change between currencies (I know they do on my monthly subscription) so probably better off paying straight through.

Would save me £12 per year, but I think i'll continue to pay £6 per month as I don't lose out if they close down for any reason.

Maxes my supposedly 50mbit virgin line at about 6.2MBytes/s and my other line at 11.2Mbytes/s (Be Jealous) has never not had anything i've tried to download. Better than that overpriced giganews rubbish.

I use nzbindex.nl to get nzbs I want. Dead simple

I use astra (been on it for years) web (pay monthly) and may do this deal but these others may be worth looking at. Do they have the same retention?

Agree with the nzbsrus.com comment above. Excellent site. They cap your NZB D/Ls to 5 per day unless you make a donation. Currently the donation is something like $10 for lifetime membership and full unlimitede access. Pretty good value for such a well run site that can't sell advertising space to anyone legit.

As for the annual subscription to these guys I'll stick with my pay per 120Gb service from Astraweb at whatever price it is now (last bought 120Gb about 6 months ago at $25). As you can see it lasts me absolutely ages. That said I'm still downloading Axxos which on my solid 10meg take around 10-15 minutes a shot. Movie selection and DL is normally complete before plating up..

If you go through couchpotatoapp.com you can get the $15/month newshosting package for $10, works out a only $2 a month more and you don't need to pay a year up front.

How does usenet work? Where do you get the news files to download?

Here's a free one - edit maybe i'm not allowed to hotlink?

Edited by: "RokkaMan" 21st May 2011

Think my first year is about to expire. Download about 200gb a month - rare to have issue. Few rar files come down incomplete but easy to repair.
Been using astra for about 8 years now...
Usenet is the best.

Hot from me. Some good comments too.
I'd like this, but don't use it enough to warrant it, TBH

If anyone wants any links to deals with Astraweb, Newshosting, EasyNews or Usenetserver then I can send some links.

Newshosting - $9.99 per month / $99.99 per year
Astraweb - $11.00 per month / $96.00 per year
EasyNews - $9.95 per month
UsenetServer - $10.00 per month / $95.40 per year

Won't post any links though

somewhat tempted to give this a try, I use rapidshare currently for all my downloading needs

You won't look back.

To those that have not used usenet before, the biggest + is that you are not left wondering which file share host to use. I was consistantly in a position where what I wanted was not available on whatever file share host I was subscribed to.

Also there is none of the 'file not found' issues.

The learning curve is nowhere near as difficult as I had imagined.

Heat from me..

I got the monthly deal (and have had for a while). Like Jacksonliam says, maxing out your 50meg line is a thing of beauty (+1 on NZB Matrix & NZBs r us, too)

supernews here $11.99 although i pay $11

supernews.com/

i dont mind paying $1 extra as i haven't experienced any speed fluctation that i did on astraweb. overall astraweb is good though.

ng are great for HD & games and i generally use the matrix, matrixXXX and nzbrus. i don't rate ng for music so i still stick to what. for that.

Too true. Initially I was a bit confused but once you sort out the server info properly in your program, and also get QuickPar sorted it's easy sailing.

So much faster than torrents (imagine a movie down in 15 minutes) and it's secure too (if you pay for it)
