EL OH EL
How much?!
What’s so good about this ? The new ps5 controller with motion sense is out soon and will make this obsolete and I assume Xbox will release an advanced controller too for their next machine
"Best price it's been"

I've just checked for those interested. It has been down to £169.13 in March.

Pros
Extensive control mapping and sensitivity customization options
Modular analog sticks and direction pad for both PS4 and Xbox layouts.
Sturdy and responsive.

Cons
Expensive.
No Bluetooth; requires USB receiver for wireless control.

Review for anyone interested

And I thought Nintendo switch controller was a fortune
Personally I'd rather have an Xbox One controller - they did spend $100M on R&D
You could buy an after market dongle to allow the Xbox One controller to work on the PS4 and I guess that's where this controller comes in.. 3% off though has me struggling to vote this hot, so I'll not vote.
FWIW I do have a Xbox One Elite controller, although I use a normal controller atm as I'm waiting on new parts...

Heat added, thanks for the heads up!

Fair enough, it was £190 earlier today though.
Heads up... SAVE ANOTHER 51p... now down to £174.48
Amazing controler, bargain considering i paid £250 for a Scuff Vantage controller
Save yourself the money if you're a more casual gamer and just buy a regular controller and a Back Button attachment. This is way overpriced for what you'll actually get out of it and personally, i'd rather put the rest of the money saved towards a PS5. Hell, that's like £150 towards it.

Yeah, i'm not keen on the scuff they seem cheaply made to me. Vantage looks good. Shame its not available in the UK.

I can afford it, so I thought i'd treat myself a while back. Trust me its way better than an ordinary controller.

Look, i don't disagree that the overall build quality and features aren't better than a standard controller but when you consider the price and quality of some rivals say like the Elite controller, this is a tad bit pricey and only appeals to the most hardcore gamers. That's also why it's getting a beating by going so sold. A regular PS4 controller + Back Button gives you the majority of the functions you'd need and the rest of the money you can spend buying games or putting towards a next gen console. I know which i'd be doing.
Have this on my wish list. I think I won't bite unless its around the £100 mark given that there's no certainty it'll work with PS5, but voted hot for anyone not willing to wait since prices for premium products seem to be rising across the board.

And for those wondering why a controller can cost this much (almost as much as the console itself) and who would buy it, this is a premium product aimed at pro gamers, high elo players who want a competitive edge, players who want maximum comfort, people who like to have nice stuff, etc. Material quality is alot higher, there's alot more featuers and customization options, and also most other wireless PS4 controllers with an Xbox layout (optional or otherwise) have issues, this is one of the few wireless ones that from reviews seems to work perfectly well (with the exception of not turning on the PS4).

U will be able to get Vantage cheaper via ebay(thats how i bought mine) as theres a Vantage 2 recently released thats better. Corsair just bought over Scuff Gaming, so hopefully better quality.
I get this might not be for everyone but it's a good price for a controller that doesn't change price much. Vote on the saving, not on your shock horror of the price of a controller

It's not shock horror at the price. It's been cheaper before in March as posted above and this is still way too big of a price for the majority to consider a good discount at only 3%.

They are all going to be using the the same omron switches and stuff inside anyway, so it's not like this is going to last longer or anything.

I appreciate that, but it doesn't make it a deal for clearly the majority who have voted this cold.

Generally the build quality is a touch better than standard components and they should hold up better but in my experience a standard Dualshock 4 is more than robust enough if not defective and with a Back Button attachment will give you 80% of the functions this controllers gonna give you

I dont like the size, feel or setup of the dualshock.
If anyone does buy this remember it only comes with a 6 month warranty, just to give anyone a heads up.

Well, i'm sure there's much cheaper alternatives out there to address that issue for those more price sensitive. If you prefer this form factor and the price is good for you and value, that's all that matters.

It doesn't matter if they're only stating 6 months. Legally they don't have a leg to stand on thanks to the Consumer Rights Act.

I've never had an Xbox or PS pad break but then again I don't smash them against the wall when I lose.

Well maybe I do, I wouldn't know, because I never lose.

Can you point me to a back button attachment please.

Currently GAME is the only retailer selling them in the UK and isn't showing stock online but its £25.99 last i checked so if you can wait a while till stores re-open, they should be available then.

That said, if you can't. There's always the option to buy other paddle based mods like the Strikepack FPS Dominator but that's a wired version and above that, maybe a paddle mod Pro controller but then you'll be paying much more for them.
dazbowski26/04/2020 20:40

I appreciate you posting it, I just can't see the value?
I doubt they spent anywhere close to $100M R&D, but I understand the target for it.
If you can make do without the touchpad I reckon an Elite controller & dongle is a better option...
£175 but it isn't compatible with the PSVR..
