Scan have a cheap (£10.79) 2GB RAM stick that should work in this; see previous post.

It should work but unfortunately trying to squeeze a 204 pin SODIMM into a 200pin socket is the proverbial square peg round hole situation.

See my previous post for RAM that will work at the best price, if you don't mind waiting for their stock to come back in.

Dane-elec 2GB DDR2 RAM, DDR3 will not work.

Oops, thanks for pointing out my error.
I scanned the specs of the Asus and noticed the RAM was only 800MHz and for some reason I thought it was DRR3. Not sure Intel even make a mobile Core2Duo chipset that supports DDR3!

Keyboard fails on this unit, expensive part when you have to replace it.

its much more capable than "browsing and office needs".a 6 years old laptop can handle browsing and office.

I have an ASUS X5D1J and it's perfect for everyday use, hot from me. X)

did you follow the instuctions in the original post?

it is still £263.99

Only an extra 40 odd for a Dell outlet i3... I think that'd be better suited for me, but I'll take a look.

cant see how you get it for £263.99

well it was in the today only section and that was yesterday so maybe its ended?

The Today Only deals run from 1pm to 1pm the next day so this deal hasnt ended yet. To only pay £263.99 click on BUY to the right of the laptop description rather than on the laptop details itself as this for some reason will change the price back to £320 whereas just clicking on BUY will deposit into your basket at the correct price.
