Forgive me being a moron but I'm looking for a cheap tablet with word and excel on it for my son. Is this any good? What is a cloud book??
This will be really slow with 4GB RAM and Windows. However it would make a good Linux or Cloudready machine.
I have bought it for my son for homework and browsing. Others had 32gb emmc and were £10 more.
voted hot, and this is also available at AO for same price (2% cashback on quidco/TCB).

From reading the reviews, you get what you pay for, decent little lappy for basic tasks.

If you are looking for a tablet, this is not what you are looking for, this is a laptop with keyboard etc.

Get him a preowned dell e7250 or lenovo x250 - far more capable machines that are extremely well built (cost over £1,000 when new)

You can easily pick one up for around £135 including ebay's discount thwyre running at the moment

I own the HP Cromebook in the link (and have owned various cheap Windows laptops in the past) and for day to day stuff I'd say buy the Cromebook. It's more pleasant for basic Web browsing stuff and the touchpad is decent. Just be aware of the limitations of it.

This one has android app support but without a touchscreen that's probably of limited use.

4GB RAM is ample for the majority of users in Windows (...unless you're of the school that all laptops must have TB3 and a 4k screen ). The CPU is low end. Good deal for the price, but consider whether it'll do what you want or whether to spend more. Heat.

You probably meant to ask what a Cloudbook is.
It's a laptop that's so crap that you have to pay a recurring fee to enable the marginallylesscrap™ function.
If you are actually asking what a cloud book is then I respectfully suggest that you click "Get deal".
my husband is looking for a cheap laptop for just doing spreadsheets, sending emails and would like to be able to run his driving theory test disc, via an external disc driver (he is a driving instructor) will this be good enough to do that?

For everyday web surfing and office work 4gb combined with a mediocre ssd is absoluley fine.

Lots on ebay but none at £130. Could you provide a link please?

Have a look on Argos ebay for reconditioned chrome books. A lot of young students have them these days. (They also have cheap laptops as well).
Tesco ebay tends to have reconditioned laptops going cheap but you have to read the small print because they often come without power cables.
I would provide a link but I can't get Argos ebay pages to load this week.

A Cloudbook is Microsoft's version of a Google Chromebook. I.e. a very low cost, low performance laptop that does basic web browsing and basic office tasks.

This is running Windows 10 S, not Windows 10, and will run fine with 4GB RAM. Windows 10 S is designed to compete with Google's ChromeOS, in that it is designed to mostly work with cloud storage, and will only run programs from the Windows Store.

Similarly to Google Chromebooks, Cloudbooks with Windows 10 S are much less likely to get viruses / malware, because all software that can be installed has to be approved by Microsoft, and you can't download programs (dodgy or otherwise) from other websites.

One advantage, though, is that you can turn off that feature, effectively turning Windows 10 S into normal Windows 10.

Edit: the other advantage of Cloudbooks, is that Microsoft supports windows for a decade, and even then you can update to a newer version of windows. Whereas Google Chromebooks only receive updates for 5 years from the date of RELEASE (not purchase), at which point they become a paperweight (unless you are very technically minded and can install linux or windows)

Linux is great and all but this is still just an N4000. It's not going to magically become quick at rendering webpages because you throw a Linux distro at it.
