only 30GB ? do they really bother making them that small ? COLD

its 1.8" not 2.5", hence the small capacity and size

Might be worth putting 1.8" in the title, at the moment it looks very expensive

true

Great for anyone waiting to repair an old iPod

Are these designed for use with their netbooks?

Not specifically, you can use them with any computer with USB

oh.. fair enough, however why not just get a 2x16gb mem stick, even smaller

Don't see the point of this?? Smaller form factor but who cares!!

hdd's are faster.

??? Sure about that? I would have thought that something mechanically that spins is by default slower than a micro chip that serves as memory. But am open to learn something new

WRONG! [unless you can prove me otherwise]

I bought one of these a while ago play.com/PC/…tml which uses a 1.8" drive and it's a LOT slower than any of the several largish USB 2.0 memory sticks I have .....

It can also get rather hot in extended use.

HDD's aren't faster than flash memory - I have a 16gb Flash Drive and 7200rpm 30gb HDD and the flash drive works alot faster - file load/transfer/save times.
The only downside to the flash memory is the life span. HDD last longer.....but then again are prone to damage from being dropped. Flash Drives are solid state.

COLD from me - sorry

Not much cheaper than Play when you add on delivery play.com/PC/…tml

3.5% quidco too, on this product.

It doesn't work like that, it's dependant on the exact technology used.

Besides, this is USB so everything will be limited to 30MB/s anyway.
