Just cancelled my order for a 3600 due to all the bios/overheating/performance issues arising. Had a look at the X570 boards first but personally can't justify being stiffed for £130 over the previous gen

Good deal for those prepared to pay and play the zen 2 lottery though, well spotted

Damn, what boards have been overheating? Any Specific X470/B450 boards as I'm currently running an Asus X470 Prime Pro which has a notoriously terrible VRM heat sink and I have a 3700X on order.
What’s this board like over the gigabyte AORUS ultra ?

That's not the same board, that's the Strix - F. This is the Strix - E.
Ok sorry still as the gigabyte ultra is the same price as this one which is better
I appriciate the jump to PCI-E Gen. 4 and a couple of other bits but does anyone else feel like the price/performance ratio of the 3000 series has been wiped out with the price of the boards?

Also, active cooling for the motherboard? Not had that since my Asus A8N-SLI 16 years ago!

I'm tempted to go for a 3900X but won't be going X570 if I do.

I think it's definitely overpriced. I hate the active cooling so much but the only boards with passive cooling are like £700. Think I may see how my 3700x performs on my X470-Prime Pro before I upgrade.
I bought the ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WI-FI) from Alza.co.uk

Not cheap but seems to be a better one than this.

That's the board I'm after but not seen it below £420. Want to pair it with a 3900x

Exactly what i'm doing once my 3900x turns up. I might die of old age by then though.

Pcie 4.0 increases board costs, you can't get away with it. Upside is that prices will come down. Regarding the fan, its only needed for NVMe Raid. If you aren't planning to use that, it will be unlikely to be on ..

Alza are fine. Used them quite a few times. Think the board turned up in about 3 days.

Only issue i do have is that it is still sat in the box waiting for a 3900x lol

That's good to know. I might place an order with them then. Might be waiting a while for that unicorn processor haha.
