2GB RAM. Anyone that tells you that's fine hasn't experienced 4GB.

I've got 3 chromebooks. Only one has 4GB RAM. It's the only one that actually gets used daily.

2GB with 7 tabs or more starts to really struggle. Plus even with one tab simple tasks like making a video to fill screen and back again takes a few seconds. On 4GB one it's instantaneous.

This is still a hot deal for the price though.

Any better deals on this?

This is the sort of price I think people are hoping to pay for a Chromebook. Secondhand chromebooks regularly go for close to £100, so £130 seems decent.

Looks like this one, runs android apps too.

Not sure, this Chromebook is not full HD, it might be better to buy a better spec'd Chromebook second hand.

Great deal. These will sell out in hours.

I had this chromebook before i got my hands on a 2015 chromebook pixel. It is an excellent chromebook for browsing, emails etc which is what most folk do with a laptop.

and as with all chromebooks it is lightening fast with the added bonus of no windows updates.

Wow must be at least a 2013 model !

I'm going for it - need to replace my old Chromebook as so many of the keys no longer work, and I'm sick of waiting in case there's a better deal round the corner!

Thanks OP

I went on my honeymoon in June 2014 to America and bought an Acer c720 for equivalent of £100 at the time from a best buy store. Shared by me and the wife, used every day for browsing. Could not praise them enough. I firmly believe there are a large number of people buying laptops who would be much better off with a cheap chromebook. Bought a laptop last year on BF for the odd task and it's just a pain when we use it!

Hot went for it thanks

Minecraft a bit sluggish. Sky will work but like I said expect delay in going full screen etc.

bought my c720 acer 2g RAM 2 years ago, been excellent, buying a 2g RAM today definitely no way, some cavemen will tell you how they live the dream in their caves because they have never been in a serviced apartment ever, 4gb RAM at least even for chromebook my honest opinion lol

Is it possible to upgrade it to 4gb?

Does this support Android Apps yet?

this table says "planned"

ASUS C300

Forget the RAM, it is the 1366x768 resolution that is the big problem.

Ordered was holding out for a laptop around 400. But when all we will do on it is browse watch Plex and YouTube it's got to be worth a punt at 130. My only concern is the screen resolution/panel quality but if this isn't acceptable I will just try and return it

On Acer R11 (2GB), I have two Chromes running side-by-side (in split screen): one running Youtube and another reading websites. It does it without any problem. All this with the Telegram & AliExpress apps also running.

Yes 4GB would be better. But 2GB on CBs is fine.

I’ve just ordered this for my daughters Christmas. Thanks for posting - I don’t know much about tech stuff but the comments have helped me make my decision not sure if that’s a good thing or not

Almost certainly not. But at this price you could get two which would probably be a better buy than a decent 4Gb CB ;-)

A dozen or so tabs plus a kubuntu crouton work like a dream on my 2013 2/16Gb Sammie S3. Mind you I have pi-hole running DHCP/DNS so everything on anything flies sans adverts or ad-blockers. Best use of an old RPI ever.

I've got the R11 and the Asus C201P. My R11 has 2GB RAM and the Asus 4GB.

Side by side the Acer is a slug. Go to settings, wait minimum 5s etc. It's not instantaneous at all.

Only got the R11 for the touch screen and to use Android apps and then realised I'd never need to use Android apps that require finger input on a Chromebook so it's gathering dust. Will sell it soon.

are folks preferring chrome books over tablets now? Also my understanding it has access to the play store?

Hi there, any problems running flash on websites on a chrome book? Thanks

It might be different people. I've bought and then sold a tablet because I've never found it any use at all. I'm so much more productive with a keyboard. And my smartphone is sufficient for reading news.

I'm considering buying a chromebook as a dedicated machine for online banking only. My understanding is that ChromeOS is safer than Windows.

Maybe your Asus has better CPU?

Sold out!

Glad I ordered one this morning then

A great deal New for less than price of refurb.

This screen res and 2gb memory are no problem with my Acer CB3-531, I run lots of tabs.

Its not a laptop, most people who buy one don't actually need one. Been using Chromebook for about 3 years and own two. I will never go back to windows, I have no need for it. No Antivirus software required. No more slowing to a crawl after a few months.

Now back in stock! I just successfully ordered one, I'm pleased to say!

Get one whilst you can

Just tried the link now and it is showing as in stock for both colours. It allowed me to add to basket. Yes 2Gb is the minimum ram, yes it's not Full HD screen and No it doesn't have a touch screen but it is sufficient to be a decent cheap and cheerful introduction to the Chrome OS.

I echo a comment made earlier that it is possible to get more bang per buck by buying a refurb. That's what i did. I reckon that most refurbs will be returns from people buying in error and will therefore be hardly used. Unlike Windows there is not much that users can mess up. Now that wi fi is almost everywhere, there's little doubt in my mind that Chrome is much the better option for many light computing users. Factor in that the google play store is becoming more widely available on chromebooks and it's becoming a no brainer (for a list of models that currently runs the play store Click Here )

I use both - tablet most evenings in front of the telly, chromebook for a good long surf at the weekends. Once every two or three months I might even turn on my windows pc

I did think that it was the CPU originally; but the N3060 CPU is rated better than the RK3288 the Asus has on benchmarks.

Great deal. I bought this Chromebook for 100ukp second hand. It is a great Chromebook. Specially good as a kids homework machine. Most schools are moving over to Google Apps for Education and this is ideal for that.

Re refurbs, they do not give you access to any Google offers such as the extra 100gb freespace (on top of your gmail account allowance). Maybe because someone has already created a gmail account through that Chromebook, and
the chromebook has been 'Powerwashed' for resale.

Also Powerwashing is great for easily resetting the CB to Factory state in a couple of minutes.
You can't do that with windows!

BUT: Powerwashing does erase all from the drive.

Not true actually. Traded in my original refurb chromebook for a better specced one and still have the extra 100GB. On the first one i was offered and accepted the 100GB extra Drive storage space for two years. On logging into the second, I was also offered the same on the second chromebook (also a refurb). When i accepted, got a response stating that only one offer is permitted per gmail email address. So i have still got the extra 100GB cloud storage.
Edited by: "topazz" 24th Nov

Then your refurb had probably not been used before.
I put this on to advise that buying a refurb could mean you dont get these Google offers like 100GB storage.
