Potentially £74.99 if you are a student (STUDENT15 for £15 off) and buy £80 of gift cards for a free £10

First 'I don't really need it, but I want to buy it' Prime deal of the day for me! My nearly 4 year old Toshiba Chromebook still works perfectly well, but this price is so tempting.

Good price for a cheap and cheerful Chromebook but it is two years old so its end of life is June 2021. Still £100 for three years use is a bargain and it has access to the Google Play store.
Fantastic! - Just gone for it to replace my old Chromebook (even though it is still working well)...
Well found. Op. Chrome book with play store.
Bought one for my 7 year old... she'll love that.

End of life?
End of life just means they stop providing updates - The device will continue functioning as normal though. The official explanation is:

"It’s important to note that a device which goes EOL does not suddenly stop working. Owners will continue to be able to login, browse the web, install apps as usual. But with no future support there’ll be no new features, no new bug fixes, and no further security updates, the experience may degrade over time."

End of life?

Further to what happymanuk said, here is the link to Google's policy on it:

support.google.com/chr…=en

Quite handy as it's got a list of all Chromebooks on there and what their End of Life date is. They've extended it to 6.5 years now (but only on new devices that have come after they made that change).
is it a good chromebook?
I have an Asus Chromebook Flip C100PA and it's a great device for light work, it has 4gb of ram though and I would be wary of only having 2gb. The next Chromebook I get will also have at least 32gb storage as you cant currently use an SD Card to install android apps to. None of the android apps will use the sd card for storage either, yet.

Great price though, thanks for posting op.
Can this play football manager please?

It will not play the desktop version, that only runs on Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems. This Chromebook can access the Google Play Store (as far as I'm aware) so you might be able to play the mobile version of the game. I've never tried this though as my current Chromebook doesn't support the Play store so I can't say for definite if it's available or not.

If you want basic computing its fine especially for kids. As far as chromebooks go its entry level but chromebooks aren't about having lots of CPU and memory and storage. All they are doing is accessing the cloud and its fine for that.
Which is better, this or the Acer Cb3 131 that was posted the other day on a Currys deal?
We have Acer, Asus, Toshiba and Samsung chromebooks at the schools I support and I would say the Asus ones have given us the least problems. To be honest they are all very similar and it is down to personal choice for things like keyboard and screen.
Cold by accident!! Hot deal!!
how does this compare to the iOTA windows 10 thats the same price? I am struggling to wrap my head round what would be a better machine for the kids to start with. amazon.co.uk/iOT…_NA

From what II can see, the reviews of the iOTA doesn't have very good build quality, if you get a good one it's ok but if not you'll be sending it back

I will prefer Chrome OS any day over Windows. Plus this manufacturer is better than iOTA.
ChromeOS is great! - Fast and boots up in seconds.
Can i run flash player on it?
Torn between this and the Fire HD 10" tablet. I primarily want to have a device with a bigger screen for YouTube, Netflix and web browsing, which would be better?

I have a 2GB 16 GB acer chromebook for last 3 years. Still going strong, 2GB is absolutely fine for browsing streaming etc.
Battery life is exceptional as the OS is so light

Having multiple users, android apps and lots of browser tabs open i find mine slows down a bit due to high ram usage. Depends on how you use it i guess but the battery life, speed and boot times are a breath of fresh air compared to windows laptops.

I paid £99 for a refurbished C100pa flip from ebay around a year ago and cannot fault it, love having a touch screen.

I'd ordered the Acer one, but this one seems to have a better processor. It's marginal. That said, Amazon has better customer service.

He could install linux but I don't think it can run it with those specs.

Chromebooks are great for using Google Docs.
This has access to the Play Store, so in theory you could download the Microsoft android apps if you prefer (Word, Excel, etc.). Edit: Also just remember that you can access web-based versions of the likes of Word and Excel too.

Do you mean I can not use Flash soon? Actually, I just need a simple laptop to do my online course that runs by Flash. So confused which one to buy.
Also netflix in the Chrome browser does run at 1080p which normal chrome browser does not which I found was odd but some added info there

Nice OP
