Looks very similar in specs to my Acer Chromebook 15, which is great for the £.

Can an owner comment on the screen quality?

Hot hot hot.
Very good price. Heat added.

You can use the Google suites...

You could also, depending on the Chromebook, run the Android versions of Word etc. if you really wanted too!

Thanks.

Is anyone out there using the android Microsoft Word/excel apps?

Is it any good?

I think you can run Microsoft Office 365 which is subscription base service...
Also official support end is November 2023 for this model which is really good. Means you are guaranteed updates to Chrome until then. In practice I don't think any Chromebooks have stopped getting updates yet, and even then they will still function. You just have to bear it in mind with some older high spec ones.
It's a pity this one doesn't fold to a tent or tablet. Still hot!

It's ok but neither 365 nor mobile apps have the power of the full Windows apps
Can anyone find this Chromebook on Amazon? Hoping they price match as I have some gift cards to use. I have searched for it and can't seem to find the same model. Thanks.
I am a dummy.... could some please explain to me the difference between Chromebook and Laptop?
Will this run android apps/access to Google play store?

Different operating systems, A laptop will use Windows or Mac a chromebook uses Chrome OS and is a browser based system and some also have the official Google Playstore so you can download your favourite apps.
Basically it feels like a big mobile phone/tablet.
Chromebooks are superb for everyday internet browsing and media players.

I think you can watch movies using Netflix or Amazon by using the Chrome browser or using the Android app. Maybe someone can confirm this?

The idea is that you use Google Docs and Google Sheets as opposed to Micro$oft office. Even though they aren't as powerful as M$ office, I made the switch a few years ago and I haven't looked back once. You can try these out on your phone or by using your browser on a PC.
For those asking about Office, you may find your work has an Office.com account for you, where you can use basically full Office in the browser.

Looks like this one, amazon.co.uk/ASU…JLH

Edit: Not the same, that one does not have touchscreen, and is a lower res screen.

Not the same model, that is not a full 1920 x 1080 HD screen.

Yes you're right, Asus do 2 versions with the same model number (asus.com/us/…ns/), one is full HD with touchscreen, the other is not.
Indeed, I ordered from Amazon then read further, cancelled it then bought the JL one.

True, but most people hardly scratch the surface of all that power.

Have a look on You tube. Lot's of vids about chromebooks for beginners.....

I agree. I'm a fan of Chromebooks but have hit the limits of Excel 365 and the Android version - for example changing the colour of bars in a graph to specific ones. Gripping stuff eh

Currys are selling the 1920x1080 for £309.

Wanted them to price match so I could use discounted vouchers
I bought this laptop earlier this week and I'm using it right now, I managed to get it using a John Lewis gift card at 5% off using Rewards Arena via my employer. I like Chromebooks, previously I had a Toshiba Chromebook 2 4GB and an Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431 4GB, I much prefer the Asus. The Acer had a known battery issue so I returned it, but was otherwise a lovely machine. The Asus size is more to my liking and for what I use it for, it isn't noticeably slower in performance.
