AMD 1.80GHz must be slow as fudge!

Surprised to see this going cold. Recent deals at £200+ have done well.

I'm on the verge of purchasing, but I just can't get over the proprietary charging adapter. Man, I wish it was USB.
Pretty sure this is a rockchip processor not amd.
Brilliant little device, had mine for almost a year now and love it! Especially great for reading comics

I've had and abused one of these for over a year and they've made me fall in love with Chromebooks.

The only 2 major annoyances are terribly low sound volume and the charger.
Did buy a 12v car charger for eBay/china for it but it failed hard.

I travel a lot for work, often in hotels 5nights a week etc and love this little beast for being so light. Different hotel each night too, so don't want to lug around my 'real' laptop to a diff location daily.
£149 for this is very cheap. I paid £199 but they seem to have spiked since upto £249.

I've been very happy with mine for a couple of years.
I bought the Acer R11 4/32gb recently. I too, travel a lot for work. Since buying a chromebook, my tablet has become redundant, and my z5 phone is pretty much just a phone now.
Why is this cold. Same machine on Amazon is £249 new. It has hugely positive reviews - Amazon Link for reviews

I am thinking of purchasing one for someone but the lack of a positive reaction here is putting me off. Anything better I should consider? Need a touchscreen laptop that will mostly be used for general browsing.

I'm trying to decide between this and the R11. Hmm....
Great bit of kit, I love mine. I bought from Amazon about a year ago when it was £199 new. This 4gb version is perfect for web browsing, light word processing, Youtube etc. This was one of the first Chromebooks to get access to Android apps via the Play store, though tbh I hardly use them. It is a shame that it has a proprietary charger rather than Micro USB, not really that a big deal though.

Fantastic price for a really well built, solid tablet/laptop hybrid with an all day battery.
I bought the r11 originally but found it too big and chunky for what I wanted.
Bought the flip and have been delighted with it.
For £150 it's fantastic value.

**mackashworth the speakers, admittedly, are not loud but I have had no issue with the volume when watching movies in bed.

How's the speaker volume? On the verge of buying. Just needs to be loud enough for watching films in bed at night really.
Android apps, touchscreen. Voted hot

I think so too: Rockchip RK3288

Just how terrible is the volume? This is the only thing making me hesitate on buying right now.

Had a fair bit of TV too low to watch in hotel rooms.
However the fact this model gets Play Store meant Plex on it could Audio boost and the android Plex app was noticeably louder.

Often have a BT speaker in my van for work so used that on occasion because of it.

This is a great price, hot from me.
Seems quite cheap for a 4gb chromebook. Paid £200 for my 4gb acer cb3-341

That looks like a great laptop for the money. Unfortunately touch screen is one of the requirements for the person I am buying for.
The Asus transformer book is exactly the same size, so I bought a leather-effect case for my flip: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Reliable-Slim-Leather-Case-Keyboard-Cover-For-Asus-Transformer-BooK-T101HA-10-1-Inch/32787277080.html

For £5 it's worth it if you're throwing it in a bag or what have you. You'll have to cut a flap off to make it fit though, and it doesn't work in 'tent' mode (so I take it off)

Speaker sound is adequate 90% of the time but if I'm watching a film or the football on it I'll use a bluetooth speaker.

Ahh, looks good! What flap do you have to cut off?

I'm hoping I can boost the volume a tad using an app. Honestly though, I'm not seeing many complaints about the volume anyway. (After watching and reading a bunch of reviews)
It just shows how out of touch people who vote on tech are here. This is a kick **** computer the size and specs are fare better than plastic crap transformer etc. It has a very capable processor and aluminum body with 4 gig Ram. Yes the emmc is low but the whole point is you embrace google drive. They used to give you 100gig allowance when I bought it not that have even used that. Did I mention the dual boot Linux you can do, I use Linux more than chrome because of my work. I love my one and for this price it is actually well worth it in my opinion. Why its in the negative is beyond me.

I used to have one of these. I agree that the max volume wasn't loud enough and the performance was mediocre to say the least when compared to something like the Acer C720 Chromebook.
How does it cope with a major windows update, not so long ago there was the Linx tablet with only 16gb and lots of people found there wasn't enough space, there was an sd card slot, but windows wouldn't use it.

Major Windows upgrade? It's a Chromebook.

It's the one that goes 'underneath' the tablet. Basically, the hinge is in the wrong place.
