This is an extraordinary ADSL router which can also be used with Fibre (at the expense of a LAN port) and 3G dongles, either in load balanced, or failover mode.
Best price direct from Amazon ever

I am not convinced there is any point for fibre, this is predominately an ADSL router....

the only possible reason for this would be if you were on Sky's latest router, BT's Home hub 5 gets reviewed very well, so there would be no reason to change

the likely hood is you already have a open reach modem for fibre...

for ADSL though, it is a good router

It can also be used as and when someone decides to upgrade to Fibre from ADSL as you can use one of the LAN ports as a WAN port. I've owned one of these and it is an impressive router (I just ordered another one - long story not going to go into this)

Brilliant router, the tech spec goes over my head but it work so much better than any of the routers I have ever had from any ISP. With two USB ports you can turn any printer into a network printer and USB storage into a network drive which can even access from outside your home network. Had mine over a year and would never go back to cheap routers.

looking on the web, many disappointed reviews with ADSL dropouts requiring frequent reboots, uses Trendchip and not Broadcom chipset oO

disappointing reviews every router on the planet has disappointing reviews by someone
This has a 3 year warranty, and Amazon's returns are legendary

Are you sure this is a N66U? You can get ADSL N66U already.

Can someone recommend best option out of Asus gear for sky fibre? n55u, n66u, n56u

It was self install so just black sr102 without bt modem. Can get bt modem on fleabay if needed

Thanks

This isn't an RT-N66U, which is a CABLE/FIBRE only router and requires a Modem.

This is a DSL-N55U (also don't confuse with a DSL-N66U which has a VDSL modem and no external antennas)

bloomin ASUS product naming conventions - confusing as hell!

I have a Sky hub and the wifi range only just reaches bedrooms upstairs and was thinking of getting a wifi extender. Wondered would this Asus also make a real improvement in the wifi range?

cheaper at ebuyer? £79.98 delivered

ordered, sick of my crappy router dropping connections, should be able to get rid of my powerline adapters too seeing as this is dual band!

Yes, but Ebuyer returns are a nightmare, they will do their utmost to avoid it, and will give you a %reduction in the value after 6 months. I had a return to Amazon 3 days before it's anniversary, no quibble and I got a full refund.
