hot price.

wonder how long til Play do their usual and bump the price way up.

Grab this now if you need a netbook. I love mine.

this is a good price- mine cost £212

Great notebook for price

Is this the best deal for around £200 do you reckon?

Im after a Netbook. Would this handle 1080p videos and does it have HDMI output?

Great price, great netbook. Sadly only the 3 cell battery, but can't have everything for this price.

after one for the wife nothing too fancy just too hook up to the net and e-mails should i get her this?

After watching a couple reviews on youtube it seems ideal for simple tasks like web browsing and emailing. Doesnt seem to handle 720p or 1080p too well though

Samsung NC10 all the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

i want it all, and i want it now

I have an NC10 now with lovely 2GB in it, sails through Windows XP just lovely. And it's blue. I love it and it loves me Though I paid not much less than this. Notebooks are the future!

Can put it in my handbag and everything. Feeds the internet addiction

I have the Zoostorm Freedom mini-laptop (same processor) and it will handle nice 720p .mkv encodes.
I put a 2gb stick of RAM into it & loaded CoreAVC (which works wonders in helping tech which really shouldn't be able to handle HD do it).

I did try some 1080p in it but even setting Win Media Player Classic (which is nice cos it's easily tweaked) as best as I could it choked and stuttered too much to be worth pursuing - although I will say this much, it was close to watchable but not quite enough.

Next year I expect the deals will be on dual core Atoms and they will handle high def easily enough but meantime if you can get decent 720p .mkvs this (perhaps with the RAM upgrade - I never tried it with 1gb of RAM - and some software to help) should be ok.

(.....and I'd just point out that even tho the screen res won't give you real high def anyways the encodes sure do look crisp on mine)

One last thought on battery life (or lack of).
If a battery to upgrade is impossible to find (as I decided with my Zoostorm, couldn't find one anywhere) then why not get another standard fit one?
Beats going without any sort of back-up.

I think the Asus EEE PC 1201N or the Compaq Mini 311c is the way to go ;-)

What res is the screen on this? 1366x768?

Recently purchased one from "Staples" for £179.00. Excellent Netbook.

I've got the 1005p (essentially the same as this with bigger HD & battery) & posted this on the recent Argos thread.

It seems to work a treat & plays HD really quite smoothly.

The cheapest N130 I can spot just now is the Argos refurb on ebay - item 330443637524

It is £169.99, has a better battery but is the older Atom - the 270. Fine for most things. It is Argos refurb and they can be very hit or miss - some people get a horrible time others strike gold.

But for under £200 for a new netbook, the OP deal is hard to better.

Oh god, just ordered one, will I ever use it though is another matter.

BTW, can someone tell me how to add H&R?

Yes but only if you can track one down - not many left.

None in Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, north Glasgow :x

None in London Area

There is also the black one from Argos too.... A better deal if you can get one as it has 250gb hard drive.

The Argos one also has the 6 cell battery and bluetooth as well as the 250gb hard drive. There are still some out there- I know a white one is available in Birkenhead as we speak.

Well thanks for that.
The thing is, I was answering the question put about HD playback.

Incredible, this guide suggested 2 changes to the ones in CoreAVC I had (deblocking & interlacing swapped from Auto to off) and I tried a 1080p .mkv in my Atom 1.66GHz Zoostorm and the little blighter managed it!
I did notice on fast panning scenes it slowed a little bit - but it wasn't a stutter and it wasn't especially intrusive.
1080p very watchable on one of these little rascals, amazing.

Thanks for that, it's very much appreciated.

Thanks and rep too, Tomb for the HD playback link. I'll try it on my NC10 later.

Just a reminder in case you missed it but I swapped out the 1gb stick to a 2gb stick of RAM.
Not sure how much difference it makes but I suspect it helps a lot.

I have 2 gig in it now (Hynix stick) ;-)
