Looks like this is the cheapest deal around by a long long way
the site has been posted on here before so no worries with that and they have a very large shop.

A price lower than the RRP and no definite stock levels on an item that's out of stock everywhere else? It seems too good to be true and they're probably just fishing for pre-orders.

nice price, but I'm gona wait until the 9" is out.

Could you point out somewhere else that has the 4G version in stock? I can't say I've had much luck finding one (it's not even listed on ebuyer).

purelygadgets.co.uk/pro…yes

Black white and pink in stock but not a very good price but in stock as you asked:thumbsup: plus some other sites had stock yesterday but cannot remember what ones i was looking at.

If this is in stock or not its still a good price.

Just checked both dixons and pcworld seem to have the white ones, at least u can click the buy link, dixons at £199.00

for any one elses info a company called offtek.co.uk have 32Gb solid state drives both sata and ide
(i did post these recently but since they have dropped again in price)to convert standard laptops to solid state at approx £120 deliv as normal laptops will come with batteries to power normal hdds, this should give a good improvement

I highly recommend the 4gb - you'll definitely appreciate the extra space, and you can also upgrade the RAM more easily and you get the built in camera.

But if you can wait the 9" screen version should be out in the summer with up to 12gb hdd and 1gb, at approx £300.

There'll be plenty of stock everywhere from now on as they've announced the EEE PC 900 today. It will be out Q2 2008
9" Screen
1024x600 Resolution
1Gb Ram
8Gb or 12Gb SSD
Larger Touchpad
XP Easy Mode or Xandros

Doesn't really bother me. The larger size and weight is very minimal, so is the power draw (consumes only 1W more). For £80 extra, it's worth it. Unless your budget is under £220

excellent machine!

gonna get the pink for my wifey

I had one of these for a while. They are fantastic little machines for people who need a portable laptop they can carry anywhere. Its easily capable of most office tasks when on the move. My only moan would be that the resolution is way too low. It feels kind of cramped when using the internet on a 800 x 480 screen. For £210 though nothing comes close with this kind of portability. The keyboard is great for people with nimble fingers but people with big hands might find it hard to type with. I had no problem though. The manual that comes with it even explains how to install Windows XP should you wish to do so. I found the Xandros Linux that comes ready installed perfectly adequate. Everything works out of the box.

Def go for the 4G version though (which I believe this deal is for) as you get so much more for your money. I bought extra RAM for mine, cost £20 for 2Gb standard laptop RAM on ebay. I dont believe you can put extra RAM in the 2G version as it is soldered to the motherboard as opposed to using a memory slot. Also no webcam.

If you’re willing to pay £249.99. PCWB have currently got 2 in stock, you can also save 5% through Quidco. pcwb.com/cat…B16

Also I popped in my local Toysrus in Harlow today, I was told they are getting stock this Wednesday, but most are for preorders. might be worth calling your local stores around 5pm.

Yes, that's the 2G version with fixed memory, a smaller battery and no webcam. That is quite widely availible. This deal is for a 4G model which is much harder to find.

@waterloo: The pink version isn't out yet, so I guess the ones on that site are stock level lies, imported versions or something similar. Even if the black/white 4Gs are legitimate then I'd imagine the only reason they have them in stock is because they're charging such a high premium (£50 extra for a £220 device?). This deal seemed dubious since I didn't know of any site that were even offering them below £220, let alone with any in stock.

Wouldn't bother with Eclipse as they known for selling items not instock even tho status say instock on website. Take your money and leave you waiting, cheeky lol

Slagged off? I was just pointing out that this deal seems unlikely to be all it seems.

As for purely gadgets I said they were lying OR importing foreign versions. Looking around the web it appears they are doing the latter. (see ]here for example).

And for getting a life, I already have one. It's one of the major reasons why I'm wary of buying from a company who's deal looks too good to be true, since it probably will be.
