Asus EeeBook E402MA 14-Inch Notebook (Blue) - (Intel Pentium N3540 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB HDD, Integrated Graphics, Windows with Free Windows 10 Upgrade

********************************£169.98 - a steal!!********************************

I've bought this laptop and I have to say I'm incredibly impressed. Admittedly I wiped the whole eMMC 32Gb drive and did a fresh windows 10 install from scratch without the need of upgrading it from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

At the bottom of this notebook, there is the ability to simply installed a HDD / SDD. One screw reveals all!

The keyboard is well balanced with low tactile keys yet responsive. They're well spaced out and have a good feel when depressed.

Battery life is reported to upto 10 Hours - very light! Perfect for student / home laptop. Comes with a micro AC adaptor... similar to iPad charger size.

It has 2xUSB (1xUSB3.0) 1x HDMI, 1x RJ45 Gigabit, VGA (15 Pin), SD Card and integrated mic and webcam.

Looks like a lovely little laptop, heat.
Lots of laptops on HUKD at the moment to choose from, heat added to this one as well
Checked a few sites including crucial for memory upgrades and it looks like you can't upgrade the ram
Nice. Same price at ebuyer.
I wonder if you can install the operating system on a ssd in the additional slot underneath and wipe the emmc to only store emergency back up files.
A proper ssd is a lot faster than emmc so it should run faster.
Hi guys,

I've installed a Kingston HyperX SSD with 500 read/write. It's, according to crystalmark, 2.5x faster in processing data to the CPU.

I've installed windows 10 from scratch on the SSD and have defaulted to this drive as my default OS drive. The eMMC 32card is being used as additional storage.

Works wonders!.... impressive 10 hour battery.
I've noticed more laptops with what could be seen as inferior processors and RAM from a few years ago. Does Windows 10 compensate sufficiently for the lower spec? With Windows 7, I found that a similar spec would struggle, especially when trying to run multiple tasks - hence at least 4GB is needed.
Admittedly Windows 10 (pro - the version that I've installed) works wonders on here. I've removed any unnecessary tiles and customised my start button similar to windows 7. So far I've ran Word and internet browser on the go - works well.

Not tried video yet - i'll be trying that over weekend.

As a plus - Asus give you 12Gb of Online storage for free. I guess that's there way of contributing to the minimum storage allowance on the notebook itself.
Whats with 32GB harddrives recently? Gone are the times when cheap laptops came with 150GB as basic?

The 32gb hard drives are similar to an sd card soldered onto the motherboard so very cheap to produce also the ram is soldered on and can not be changed.

Ive made the changes in the OP re: upgrading of memory.
Why is Windows 10 version 80£ more expensive? Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 is free!!! As I can see hardware is the same

totally agree with you - however, the windows 10 version, should you ever have a problem. You can simply do a restore of a fresh windows 10 version.

Note: the windows 8 version is "with Bing".

I bought this laptop and tried to install a 2.5" HDD i had lying around but it won't seem to fit completely? One side is lifted and the flap covering the enclosure won't close. Not quite sure why... Does it need to be an SSD that will fit?

Cheers

I can't get it at this price and the code doesn't work?
Did anyone manage to get it or is it expired?
2Gb of ram will cause a bottleneck and slow the laptop down.
