For those people who will, no doubt, take the view of "I can buy a full-fledged fully specced laptop for a similar price" view, you're quite right. However, some people have a genuine need for extra mobility and reduced weight - judging by the eee's success this number is quite large.

For those of you who want just a little bit more power, losing a small amount of mobility (13.3") without jacking the price up to normal umpc levels, take a look at the dell vostro 1310 (easiest way to find it is to type n0513101 into the search bar on dell's site)

Great - outlets are getting them in stock. I hope Play gets their allocation soon and fulfils my preorder

And I wanna add that processing power is only useful if you are using it. Many of my family have computers that are capable of such a lot and yet are used for little more that web surfing and email.

This little machine will be my new commute companion for watching videos and doing revision. Nothing more is needed in terms of computing power. The only constraint I have is size, the smaller, the better. This little computer ticks all the boxes for me

Not such a bargain now as the older model was the true bargain at 200 notes..

I went and got a Sony VAIO TZ31 the other day...great bit of kit, nice and powerful and has a proper screen with a good resolution. It's still small and light too - perfect!

Errr also £1270....

Definately a wait and see deal... over the coming months there's going to be a lot of new products in this space and will therefore be more competitive pricing. Not saying never buy as there will alway be something better around the corner, but hold fire for a couple of month and see what is launched with the new Intel Atom low power processor

I bought one last week and i think it's great.
I got the 20gb one.
Would have been nicer if it was under the 300 mark but im pleased with it

Ive got one on preorder from play.com for £313 delivered. due 11 may.

Weve got around 25 asus Eee 701's so far. they are great but needs a little more drive space for XP. This is where the 900 will come into its own.

For those of you that wonder why the XP one only comes with a 12GB drive not 20GB. The lowe spec drive is to ofset the cost of the XP license your getting with the system for the same price as the linux version. If you have XP already get the 20GB & install your OS. if not buy with oem XP license & the 12GB drive.

Plenty of Stock at Toys R Us and online.
Only 12Gb XP though

have some heat
