I'd only pay that if it had 8GB ram.
Agree with both of you, just posted as it's the best price so far. It's a deal relative to the (ridiculous) £599 rrp, but not compared to the competition, or the spec. However, just noticed ao.com have same price plus £40 cashback, so £459 which is better.

ASUS really messed up here; This should be the rrp, £399 ideally the discount price and the C433 should have never got off the drawing board. They'd have sold masses more.

Ha, I doubt it was enlightening, otherwise I enjoy the sarcasm
Yeah the C433 build quality of the base/keyboard section really put me off seeing the Chrome Unboxed review.
Then the main design is not much different to the C434, and has the same/similar ports and spec. So similar that it seems like C433 is a model that didn't need to exist. C434 only came out in March too? They should have just set the base pricing of the C434 to be more competitive from the start.

No avoiding, it is expensive for the spec. On the positive side the 4gb ram has never caused any problems for me and the cpu is well up to the task of streaming, browsing with open tabs etc. Had my C434 a while, upgraded from the Asus C302 which it replaced. The almost frameless 14" screen is a treat and the build quality is top notch but TBH sometimes I do miss the C302. The C434 is noticeably heavier than the C302 and for me anyway, changes to the key colour (silver graphics on silver keys) causes problems. In poor lighting conditions, it sometimes makes the illuminated keys unreadable depending on the angle you are viewing at. Definitely style over substance. Overall though, £499 is steep but at £459 it is worth considering. Depends on whether you just want a functional box to do a job or a device that is a constant pleasure to own and (illuminated keyboard aside) a delight to use.
This is now $399 + $19 delivery from Amazon US.

I'm waiting for the 8GB version to be discounted.

Chromebooks don't need anywhere near as much ram as windows, the operating system is very lightweight.....8gb is more than enough......gone are the days of 2 hour windows updates, with a dozen restarts, or a 600mb Nvidia driver download.......
