12hours... c'mon, let's be real

According to my previous link Battery - Up to 4 Hours...

I thought I was going to bite but:

7th Gen processor (albeit quad code)
2gb gfx
up to 4 hour battery life (if you go by Asus website - 12 hours if you believe Amazons details...)
Doesn't seem to be an IPS screen.
Need to add on the cost of a SSD.

Grrrrrrrrr.....

Is the screen an IPS panel? TN would be a deal reaker and I can't seem to find any solid information on this.

FX503 features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS-Level display. This display delivers great contrast and color consistency, and there's no color shift even when viewing from extreme positions so it's always easy to see what's onscreen. We've even applied a matte finish, virtually eliminating distracting glare or reflections.

It seems to be IPS-like, so good enough in my book

Tempted...

yet another laptop without an i7.

You expecting to find i7 in a 600 pound laptop? Good luck with that

Sounds like you want a £1200 laptop. Get a Dell XPS 15. You'll need to pony up.

Yeah, Seen it before actually Although there was no ssd and a 960m. So if an i7 pops up for even £650 that should be good. You can buy a laptop with the latest i7 from dell for £750.

I'd love to but unfortunately my budget is 700ish.

I'm happy to compromise when I do buy something but wonder if there are too many compromises with this one.

I'm still being drawn to this deal.....hotukdeals.com/dea…005

Is it possible to install two hard drives in this laptop? I would like to add an ssd for windows and keep the 1tb drive for games / storage.

There's an image in the amazon description showing how to remove the storage door. The image seems to show an M2 SSD slot, but I cannot see it listed in the specifications anywhere online.

I'm in a similar position - I even checked performance and even though the 8550u is a dual core with HT or whatever they call it now performance figures on passmark are a little better - marginally for single threaded performance - tdp is a third though so batt life should be better.

£600 is my absolute top limit really - my i5 2430m stil performs admirably enough for office tasks and photo editing (I do have an SSD and wouldn't be without one now). Discrete graphics would be nice but it's not a deal breaker.

Yep, according to the manual (page 86) you can install a M.2 drive very easily and keep the mechanical drive in situ.

Wh-hay, finally got a deal on here that wasn't out of stock.

If your gaming the battery will probably last a good 20 minutes.

I got one! Can't complain at ALL for 599! BAARGAIN!
Also - saw people saying it's a shame its not got an i7 and showing a DELL. The DELL is a "U" processor. This is a HQ processor. There is a massive difference.
For gaming do not compare ULTRA LOW VOLTAGE cpu vs HQ CPU. Don't compare 1050GTX vs a crappy AMD 380 or whatever it is. There is no competition. Remember you can always add an SSD or memory. You can never change your CPU or GPU on this!

Anyway - great lappy for the money. End of!

Yes but the Dell has a 8th Gen i7.

This is 7th Gen.

Not saying this isn't a good deal, just that there are options.. (as well as pros and cons).

Great thanks for the info, think I am going to go for this laptop. Hopefully I will find a good bf deal on an M2 drive.

Good spot. Thanks for that. I ordered the ASUS rog laptop featured here a few days ago, from Ao (but they messed up the order and phoned me 2 days later to say It was out of stock)

Ordered this one instead which is basically same for the same price

Thanks for this, can you confirm that this model uses an IPS display?

( I wrote a LONG ass reply - but then it went missing so I will make this one shorter! ) - basically I cannot confirm if it has an IPS - but its good enough for the price for me. We just have to remember we are getting an ASUS laptop - which is a decent brand, with a HQ processor + dedicated GTX 1050 GPU for under £600. These were around £800 like 2 weeks ago. If you have a higher budget then you should look at a GL502 or an MSI GE62, but they are over double the price!

Recap - for the money - this is a steal!

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a laptop.

Went for Dell 7567.

i7-7700HQ
16GB ram
NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB
1TB mechanical drive
128gb SSD
Backlit Keyboard

It was £815 refurbished from Dell Outlet but managed to get it for £692 with 15% student discount so about the same as this one once the cost of a SSD is added. (so getting an i7, an extra 8gb ram and a full 4gb video card.

There is another 7567 in stock at the Dell Outlet right now.

I must henceforth stop looking at laptops......

Can anyone recommend a decent 250gb ssd dribe and an external DVD writer to go with this thanks

Will any SSD (M.2) work with this laptop???
