nope, that has a gtx 1050 instead of a 1060

Amazing bang for bucks! (relatively speaking for gaming laptop). Have some heat.

This is a stinking deal. Someone will point out that it’s only a 3gb 1060, but st this price it is very much worth it.

Nice, a tadge over my budget. I don't see whether it's a Tn panel or ips though - unless it's glaringly obvious and i'm having a senior moment.

Same or stronger cpu, storage, ram and ips with or without a discrete gpu (1050 would do my limited needs) for £500-600 and i'd be over it like a rash. Ie the acer cyber monday deal that was probably limited to three units.

When did component makers get into the laptop business? Do they have their own manufacturing facilities or is it a rebadge of a generic chinese model?

I am tempted, but not sure about their after-sales support. Any experiences?

Absolute shocking, put me off the entire brand and only got a refund as amazons customer service are brilliant.

The build quality on the 17" version of this was appalling and stopped the track-pad from working, phoned their support who advised to send it for repair, 6 weeks with "letusfixit" who are an atrocious company who just flat hang up on you after saying "it's done when you get it back". When it returned it was still screwed up and all they seemed to have done is reset windows and not installed any of the drivers.

It doesnt have a 4K screen, so unlikely you need a 6GB model.

About 20% weaker than the desktop 1060 3GB. Still for a laptop that's good, the mobile variants are often a LOT weaker than the desktop equivelent.

Thanks. It is experiences like these which make us prefer known and established brands. A preference which doesn’t go down all too well in HUKD, but it is what it is.

Unlike Asus GL notebooks, FX models come with lowest-end TN panels

It has a low contrast, poor screen as stated here:

Not sure about this model, but I bought the lower spec 1050 model in a pre-bf deal. The screen was abysmal! It was TN panel with an extremely narrow viewing sweet spot. Even at the optimal angle it still looked very hazy and washed out. I ended up returning it because of the screen. It looks like this model has the same screen so be wary!

I would say ASUS is quite well known and established, but 3rd party repair outfits just let it down completely.

I browsed for another one and even though they were having a few issues I ended up going with Alienware.

They have their own Dell Engineers who come repair the laptop, if you get a dud you can return and swap no questions, and if you have issues they are extremely active on twitter/reddit with knowledgeable staff who know what they are talking about.

I work for a premium product supplier and in my experience these days it is becoming less of how reliable your products are but more how easy is it for me to update it or have it fixed if it goes wrong. It is why I try and get most high value things through Costco, John Lewis or Apple, the customer service is worth the premium to me. Although I do love this site for guiding me to many a john lewis price match

Good price but likely a TN panel at this price point.

Actually it's about 5-3 % weaker according to benchmarks.

It's a good deal if you can put up with the terrible screen.

Possible to fit an IPS panel?

Here it is the deal for me! Oh that screen 😞. The quest continues....

After seeing this pop up I was a bit bummed out about buying the Medion deal but now seeing the screen and that it's a 3GB 1060 I'm gonna stick with the Medion.

Would this be good for using premiere pro on?

The i7 model only has a GTX 1050

According to userbench, who get real results from people running tests all over the world, in the games tested it's about 18% more powerful, with effective speeds compared at about 25% different.

Gone

I had a Asus ROG laptop and it was everything I would have expected from Asus on the inside as well as in performance. Taking off the bottom plate, space for a second HDD and ability to replace the graphics card, memory, wifi card etc. all nicely laid out and accessible. Deffo not a rebadged Chinese model.

The 6gb also has more Cuda cores than the 3gb card so will run better at all resolutions (around 10%) not that either are suitable for 4k gaming anyway.

But the 3gb are normally cheaper so not going to bash the card as still quite a step up from either 1050.

So it is. Didn't think to look at user benchmark. Fair enough

Nvidia don't advertise the fact one is all around slower.

Just more shady Nvidia business practices.
