For a 6GB GTX 1060 set up I think this a nice option for an ASUS model, you get a free backpack with it as well. A nice slick looking machine and as far as backpacks go... I actually like this one. I've been watching this model drop for a while and this is the lowest I recall it being.

Has a 128GB SSD for use as a boot drive, so should be nice and speedy. A really nice all-rounder. Looking back on previous 1060 3GB offers, I reckon the extra £30 for the 6GB model is worth it.

Acer 21.5" SA220Q ZeroFrame Full HD IPS Monitor £81.99 with free del

Nice looking IPS Full HD Monitor with DVI & HDMI inputs
No speakers, on this one although I don't think it's a deal breaker here.
Has a 4ms response time, which is also pretty good. I game on a 5ms ultrawide IPS panel with no issues (apart from my skills )

Depends, 17.3" isn't very portable.

Most gaming laptops arent portable though.
Wasn't this posted last week as well as I was tempted then....
I'd say it's about right for an i7 + 1060 laptop

Not the best mid-range Asus gaming laptop though

Was just going by the price of 17.3" laptops vs 15.6, and not personal preferences

I appreciate the specs are not exactly same but for the variation in price I'd say it's worth keeping an eye out for a different deal.
That Ryzen laptop has a downclocked 580. and is much slower than the 1060, also you're comparing a Ryzen 5 with an i7 for gaming?

Probably the GL503 VM

You might be able to pick up a bargain soon as the Kaby Lake i7's are replaced by Coffee Lake

The i5 version has been as low as £850 ish

*edit - just seen above the i5 went down to £809

Now that's a bargain!

Nothing I've read suggests the mobile 580 is 'much' slower than its 1060 counterpart.

Sure it's downclocked compared to the desktop version but so is the 1060. Power consumption and heat profile is definitely better on the 1060 though.

Happy to be proven wrong if you have any links

Much slower than a 1060? No an RX580 is not MUCH slower than a 1060. Also whats wrong with a ryzen 5? Its 6 core 12 thread cpu. The i7 isnt much better for gaming either.

You dont seem to know much about computers and gaming. My guess is your a bit of an Intel/NV fanboy.

Fanboy? I own the Ryzen laptop, it's junk for gaming, but great for coding / editing / streaming etc

And yes the mobile 580 is clocked 200mhz slower than the desktop version, the 1060 isn't that much slower than the desktop counterpart.

Also, you surely know that games won't be using all 6 cores right? and it's just about cores and multithreaded performance in games is it? IPC means nothing?

hey, you know best.....

Eh your comment makes no sense. You say the 580 is slower than 1060. Then you say the 1060 isn't that much slower than desktop counterpart? WTF are you onabout.

It's pretty easy to understand m8 for those of us that speak english.

Counterpart would be the mobile version of the graphics chipset, vs the desktop version

the 580 mobile version is around 200mhz slower than the desktop 580

the 1060 mobile version (pascal) is much closer in performance to the desktop 1060

added to that is the fact this it's also only 4gb, most benches i;ve seen compare the 8gb 580 vs the 6gb 1060

Therefore, to conclude whilst the desktop iterations of these 2 cards are fairly evenly matched, there is a bit of a gulf in perfomance between them for laptops, partculary on the Asus laptop i was refering to

Omg i read this as 21.5 inch laptop scree for 900 i was about to buy buy buy !!
Many of us purchased an inferior version of this laptop from AO, a few weeks ago for £709. Ours was i5, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, GTX 1060 3GB, IPS FHD screen. When we received the laptop, the laptop screen was an awful TN panel. AO then refunded us £100 as it was there error in the description. Looking at this deal lumped with a monitor, I'd say the laptop screen on this FX503 is the same crappy TN panel as we got. You've been warned.

Apart from the crap screen and windows 10, its a nice machine.

Where do find your laptops with 1060 6gb? The back of a van? Maybe it would be too much for 3gb one

If anyone wants an alternative to buying a gaming laptop try the cloud PC gaming route. You can pay $20 a month and have the equivalent of a 1080 graphics card with the rest also high specs. As long as you have half decent internet ie around 50mb then you should be fine.

Ut what do you play it on without a laptop??
Just a heads up might be a idea to contact the box about whether this sku is a IPS or a TN Panel. Reason for this I posted a different sku for this laptop here , good price however when people had it delivered was shocked to find a very subpar TN panel.

What is this? A rucksack for ANTS!?
Don't get gaming laptops at all.

Most don't seem particularly portable... so if folk are using them at home why not just go for a desktop and monitor?

Or do they just really enjoy a warm groin?
