Looks a fairly good for the price for the spec (however I'm not confident this will not go down well with voters).

Part No: G750JW-T4099H Stock Code: 6653410

Intel® Core™ i7-4700HQ Quad Core Processor
17.3" Full HD Screen (ASUS Color-Shine, 1920x1080 FULL HD Resolution)
Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit
8GB DDR3 RAM
750GB HDD
DVD Rewriter
2GB Dedicated GTX 765M Graphics

The GTX 765M looks pretty decent in laptop terms. Manages some of the latest games even on ultra seemingly. Will post link to notebookcheck.net review in post below.

It wont manage the latest games on ultra at 1080p. 720p max.

I'd personally go for the 15" Lenovo machine. Similar specs with newer processor, SSHD, 4k Screen, and newer 860m.

Also has a much better build to it, but £100 more.

True about the ultra settings but for less demanding games like Titanfall, apparently you can get 35fps on 1920x1080 with ultra settings. AC Black Flag goes down to 19fps maxed out on 1920x1080. Not an enjoyable experience at such a low fps but not bad for a laptop GPU.

This aint bad for £550. Gfx card is 850M, pretty decent for the money (ok the CPU is a lot weaker)

No red stripe on side so sadly no.

Buy the Asus G750JM.Its a BEAST.

Also the JM is coming with the new Nvidia Gtx 860M.It can handle games on ultra and 1080p.

this cube laptop is exactly the same price with a better graphics card and bigger HDD

This one is better i … This one is better i thinkhttp://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Q2556N-V2-CF1-Gigabyte-Q2556N-V2-CF1_1629236.html

Actually, on the Gigabyte laptop:

- the GPU is weaker than the one in the Asus despite being a newer generation
- the screen resolution is only 1366 x 768 as opposed to 1920x1080 on the Asus
- the i7 processor marginally weaker than the Asus
- has a bigger hard drive though 1TB vs 750GB on the Asus

Overall, I wouldn't say that it's better but it is £100 cheaper. It's also a 15.6" laptop rather than a 17.3" one posted here but some people prefer smaller laptops.

What is the link?

Good build quality.. full HD big screen. Dedicated graphics aren't anything special and neither is Windows 8. Not bad for the price.

I've got this GPU and CPU runs almost anything at high/ultra. The only game I've had issues with is an odd one - CoH2.

people expecting too much from a laptop GPU, i can run pretty much anything on my 540m on medium. if i want t run it on ultra i use my Desktop.

I see the upgraded one with 750hd & 256 ssd for around 1k.

I really dont see the point in buying one of these without an ssd. It makes gaming a lot faster during the boring cut scenes & loading.

Although could probably buy one & stick a 512gb SSD in for around 1k too doh...hmmm.

Is this better than this Dell at £629? dell.com/uk/…537

Also that Dell has a GPU NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 750M 2GB DDR5. Notebookecheck have two different 750M's on their site. How do I know which on the dell uses? As one is considerably better than the other card

I am going to go out on a limb here and say it is the second 750m you link because the first is SLI and uses 2 750m cards

Hmm, Wouldn't want 4k on a laptop at the moment, games will run really bad if that's what people want it for. Also that's slightly more than £100 more isn't it.

You could hire a lot of people in India to remember your stuff... and hire some more people to play real life Titanfall or Battlefield for you.

Make sure you hire people who make good bleeping noises or machine-gun sounds with their lips.

Also if anyone wants to ask if a game runs just ask

guys what you think. .not sure if this looks better. . Dells premium xps i7, 1TB, Ssd, slot in dvd etc

Considering the new 850m is equivalent to the 765m and the 860m is roughly equivalent to the 770m, this isn't that great a price. You can find cheaper laptops with the 850m card starting at around £600 and they will use less power/ generate less heat which is very important in a laptop.

notebookcheck.net/NVI…tml

'Although the GTX 850M has less shaders, it often outperforms the old Kepler-based GeForce GTX 765M while drawing less power. '

I would personally look for a slightly cheaper lappy with a newer Maxwell 850m, no way would I pay £800+ for a laptop with a kepler 765m in late 2014 even with a beast of a CPU like in this model.

Agreed - which makes the Lenovo Y50 models tempting, with the 860M; they're expensive, but you tend to get better quality etc. Even if you were to go for the 4K screen, I believe I'm right in saying "just turn the resolution down to 1080p in games!" - and you still get to use all that screen real-estate if you need it for work etc.

The advert mentions it's a L501X which is quite old as XPS models go.

The Y50 is only £80 more surprisingly: saveonlaptops.co.uk/594…tml

For that you get a slightly better CPU, more RAM, a hybrid 1TB drive (8gb cache), a far better GPU which uses power/generates less heat (Maxwell 860m) not to mention it only weighs 2.4kg and is very slim, unlike this fat 3kg+ Asus model.

I have the L501x and that looks more like a newer model. Still don't think the graphics are anywhere near as good on the Dell.

It does, but the specs mention L501X - hence I'd advise caution....
