Why don't you contribute something to the site instead of just trying to put other deals down. You try find me a gaming laptop for under 500 that will play aaa titles in 1080p?

Because it will play them. You can play battlefield 5 on this for example at around 50fps which to your average Joe is absolutely perfect. This laptop isn't for people who can see the difference between 10fps which I'm pretty sure you couldn't either.
You can guarantee at least one neckbeard to come out of his basement on every PC deal. Good deal OP.
Good deal for someone who doesnt mind turning down the settings or averaging less that 60 frames. Good find at this price I'd say

Oh and @Techgl its actually in between a 1050 and 1050Ti in terms of performance

It will easily handle AAA titles at 1080p.

If it weighed less than 2kg, it'd be portable enough and seriously tempting even for non-gaming, general use (those graphics and superb sound)

(Aesthetics notwithstanding, of course; not very classy for over-40s )

Have a look at realtime benchmarks on YouTube instead of those sort of sites. Remember at this price point the laptop would likely be a 1050 that has Vram of 2gb which holds it back on a few games also ;).

Regardless, good deal and it will be more down to optimisation and all, it's really not something to worry about

Lol yeah sorry bout that.
Looks like this isn't up to half decent gaming. Is it even possible to get a decent gaming laptop for under £600?

That is one very highly optimised game
This looks like a decent gaming laptop, yes it wont play at 1080p at 60fps but this is an entry level gaming laptop, expectations should already be set, especially under £500

People should be more concerned about spreading positive knowledge rather then just being negative and providing nothing else, remember why we are all here.

A lot of people on here aren't interested unless it's got a 2080 GPU and the machine is about £500. If not they'll slag it off
Review from notebookcheck:

"The TUF FX505DY is the most balanced AMD gaming laptop we've tested. Whereas the mismatched Strix GL702ZC paired a high-end CPU with a mid-range GPU and the FX550IU paired a low-end CPU with a mid-range GPU, the FX505DY successfully combines a mid-range Ryzen 5 3550H with the mid-range Radeon RX 560X for 1080p gaming on a budget. Overall performance is oftentimes on par with the common budget gaming laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8300H and GeForce GTX 1050 while selling at a lower MSRP, which is exactly what AMD and Asus are aiming for with this new TUF system.

The main issue here is timing. Laptops with GTX 1050 and even 1050 Ti GPUs have been dropping in price to make room for RTX laptops. It's not difficult to find such systems on sale nowadays for $700 to nullify the performance-per-dollar advantage that AMD systems typically have. Had the FX505DY launched a year earlier when the GTX 1050 was newer and costlier, then it would have made for a more compelling alternative.

Because of the reason above, the FX505DY doesn't have any major advantages over the competition, but it isn't an inferior pick either. It stands toe-to-toe with budget Intel-Nvidia offerings which is saying a lot for an all-AMD laptop. AS the first Zen+ gaming laptop in the market, it shows a lot of promise for what future Ryzen gaming laptops can bring to the table. We're still crossing our fingers for Ryzen-Nvidia laptops to really undercut Intel's dominance."

It most certainly won’t
rufferphoto11/11/2019 11:49

Yes it will. Granted it will be slightly less than 60fps but it will still handle them. And for the user this machine is targeted at its absolutely fine. You do know games consoles only run at 30fps don't you.

“Handling” is not what you want when playing a game, in my opinion. For anyone interested in a fully detailed review of every aspect of the laptop. notebookcheck.net/Asu…tml

Then this laptop is not for you and you should look at a higher spec laptop at a higher price point. Simple really!
Wouldn’t ever buy ASUS anyway
I play games on potato settings and am poor, my laptop just died, this will be perfect! Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm going through a midlife crisis and would like to get back into gaming on a budget. The missus won't allow a desktop in the living room so I'm looking for the cheapest laptop I can find that will stand a chance of playing some modern games with the settings turned right down; is this the one? I'd really lie to try the new Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order game but I think that game would be beyond the limits of this laptop?
Thanks!

You could play pretty much any modern game including jedi fallen order in 720p at 60fps or 1080p at around 40-50fps by playing around with the graphic settings of the game

Really? Wow, I didn't expect that, thanks!
Sorry, more questions as I can't find the answers anywhere.

It looks like it has two slots for ram. Can I assume that it's supplied with 2 x 4gb sticks so upgrading to 16gb would mean removing both?

Is there a spare slot for a normal hard drive to boost storage space?

(both future upgrades when I have more cash, my budget was supposed to be about £400...)

Thanks

Why not just get a console?
Mojomaster197914/11/2019 07:14

Why not just get a console?

Ah, it's not really for gaming, it's for working! Just an occasional game one in a while.
Does anyone know if this has an empty slot for a second hard drive, and another empty slot for a second memory stick (i.e. one stick of 8gb with space for another 8)?

Thanks
Hi,
has anyone ordered one of these and made any of the promo codes work?
I tried to get the 20% credit back but it wouldn't let me so I'm trying the 10% discount for first credit order. The rep says it won't work and I'll be charged full price but it looks okay on the website.
Thanks
