It's a shame about the sub-1080p resolution, but if you don't mind 720p gaming then this is a good deal.

The RX 460 is a solid graphics card (https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-RX-460-Notebook-RX-460M.171186.0.html). It can play a lot of recent games like prey, overwatch, fallout 4, and witcher 3.

The processor beats out intel's i3 7xxx, but is slower than the i5 7xxx range.

Its a nerfed version of the Asus FX550IU which costs about the same but isnt on sale in the UK atm, you should wait and see. The lack of a better option doesnt mean this is the best option unless you can deal with such a bad display.

Other than the screen im struggling to see a difference between this one and the one you mentioned which isnt available in the uk.

The laptop is also around £700 - £800 at other retailers so this looks like a good deal.

Are there any uk alternatives in this price range?

You'd need to pay way more money to play games at 1080p resolution on a laptop. Note that laptop CPUs/GPUs aren't as powerful as their desktop counterparts.

The reviews for 460 say that it is basically effectively an OK 720p graphics card and a poor 1080p graphics card. So I suppose the screen resolution makes sense. Whether you should really call this a gaming laptop is another matter.

SAY NO TO 1366x768 ON LAPTOPS, AT ANY PRICE

Yes, even at £1. My tired old eyes deserve better

If you want to game on a laptop on a budget this is a cracking deal. Sure it would be great to have a better screen but look at the price!

Decent all round laptop for £500.

Would this play Sims 3/4 in medium/high settings ok?

I had one of these. Screen is horrible....even for 768 resolution. And the 460 is nowhere near on par with a 960m regardless what you read. Also, updating with AMD drivers is a real pain as they often cause problems. Trust me....avoid this.

Saw this, m.gearbest.com/lap…tml

Is this worth it? I know this one listed above isn't great for the money you spend.

This is overkill. Head to notebookcheck.net/Int…tml to find cheaper graphics cards that'll play sims.

Basically, even an old cheap laptop with an integrated i3-6006 or i3-6100 cpu can play sims 4 are good framerates. You can grab them new for about £300, maybe even less.
