Aren't you a little short for a pc?
Very well rounded spec and the graphics card is very powerful. If i was buying today Id certainly consider this. 8 series Intel is better, more cores, but given this has SSD, 16gb RAM (in this current climate somewhere between £100-200 for RAM alone) and half the price of the machine at LEAST is the GPU, this is very well rounded and will play anything for the foreseeable future until 8cores/threads becomes more necessity.

Replace the motherboard/cpu later if the PSU etc are up to scratch.

...and yes does look Stormtrooper-ish.

Throw on top warranty with a well known brand if anything fails.

This is superb for that price
Excellent spec for the price. If I hadn't built a PC in January I would be all over this. Great spot.
Very good
Agree with the majority view, excellent spec for the price! Only thing is I can't see the measurements of the case - it looks gigantic!

Did this come with monitor keyboard etc or is that extra.

Need one for my child.

Steelseries Rival 110 mouse is excellent for the price and the 320 even better. If you can find a Steelseries Siberia 350 headset from base.com thats also good and a great price. keyboard is up to you and there are LOADS of monitor deals on here.

Anyone know what parts are in this pre-built (i.e. brand etc.)? - I''m guessing the mobo and GPU are the strix version

The criticisms the second person has seem a little unreasonable right now given the relative value of the machine at the £800 price. It would cost you as much to build yourself with current GPU prices; likely more.

I don't think you can complain at the vendor or manufacturer for wanting to make some profit!

Its not like the processor miraculously costs less due to 8th series releasing unless Intel themselves do a rebate etc. The stock still cost as much to purchase, and margins on pc components are reasonably tight.

Memory costs a lot right now so I suspect this isn't far off cost, whilst still requiring support etc.

Simple maths suggests the 1070 is currently approx 400-450, 150 for the i5, 150 for the RAM, thats 700+ already without the windows license, PSU, motherboard, SSD etc.

Also realistically one fan 1070 and one DIMM stick are not major reasons to complain. My old ITX 1070 still clocked nicely on one fan, and the single stick of DDR4 makes it easier to upgrade to 32GB by adding a second stick (so the user doesnt have to buy a full 32gb set...)

Realistically I'd rate the machine 7-8/10, and great value based on the price. Certainly not 5/10. Replace the mobo and processor once warranty is done or you need faster, the rest of the spec is still a great start for anyone and will play anything right now, regardless of whether a machine £1000+ will play it better. There will always be something better, this isn't a future proof spec but its certainly of reasonable value. GPU and memory prices right now due to memory shortages and cryptocurrency-influenced shortages have made it a painful time!

Edit: sorry for the length of this, but want to ensure anyone considering this has a balanced response.
Also note im not arguing laptops direct have great support but then I'd go direct to ASUS anyway!

Bought this last time it was posted and got a faulty unit. Customer service at this place is not good, it took forever to get sorted.
I'm looking to upgrade my system in the next few months. Quite tempted to just go for this as it is a good deal. What's the processor/ram speed like? Website not opening at work.
Think will go for this. Have no idea which monitor and other peripherals to get. Will look at the suggestions mentioned here.
Just clocked this on the amazon page (different setup, but assuming similar RAM/MoBo):

  • Powerful Full Size ATX Gaming Desktop: Equipped with latest Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz and GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Graphics
  • Unique chassis design with customizable panels, headphone hanger, windowed side-panel, and EMI shielding
  • Latest 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, fast 256GB SATA SSD combined with high-capacity 1TB HDD
  • STRIX motherboard features ASUS AURA RGB lighting and is equipped with 2x Pie x16 slots, 2x M.2 connectors, and 4x DDR4 slots
  • Chassis storage drive bay supports up to 6x HDD and 2x SSD

I did, but I was hoping they were really small people
It looks like a Stormtrooper!
No good for 4k?
The 1070 will do 4k, just not maxed out, there's not really a single card out there right now that will do 4k maxed graphics at high framerate. If you compromise the 1070 will be fine. I can play some of my games 4k res with a laptop 1060 at decent settings so go figure

As an example...

You sir, have just won the internet
Heat added!
Thanks OP, bought this over the phone and bought a 1080p monitor on offer from them along with gaming keyboard bundle and managed to get next day delivery and slight additional discount on the total package. Don't know about the quality of the other peripheral stuff but guess it's ok quality and can upgrade to 4k screen later when prices lower.
For £899 I got this system, along with laptopsdirect.co.uk/gamemax-raptor-pc-gaming-bundle-blue-gmxkbcomboraptorblue/version.asp choosing £29.97and laptopsdirect.co.uk/philips-240v5qdab-vga-dvi-hdmi-led-backlit-23.8-lcd-monitor-240v5qdab-00/version.asp costing £94.97 in total costing £934.9 but spoke to a nice chap and asked for bundle offer and after speaking to his manager I guess he did bundle deal for £899.9 being delivered tomorrow. Think Saturday delivery is usually extra but I got bundle deal. Thought would mention it here so that anyone interested in other accessories on sale on their website can ask and see if they oblige a further discount.

The 4k screen was more than 3 times expensive so didn't go for that laptopsdirect.co.uk/lg-…asp

Was about to go for this, but this a deal breaker. Can anyone confirm that this is Defo the situation?
Wanted to add in Ssd. What if you need to blow dust out, add a fan etc etc? I appreciate adding a water cooler could be grounds for voiding the warranty...
One fan GPU hmmm no
Think this is extremely good value for a pre-built and looks very nice indeed.

Hot from me.
Best Regards,
