after quite a bit of comparing this range of cards id kinda settled on the EVGA sc as its slightly faster but currently out of stock. Then this pops up and appeals despite its slightly slower clock speed. When you say 'full fat' do you mean as in a full size card apposed to the EVGA?

I'd assume he means against the 3gb versions

You can, but you'll only be able to gain 19bhp not 20 I'm afraid.

A whole 12MHz extra!!!

lol yeah......could be 1-2 fps !!
I want one of these cards...

Is this a significant upgrade for my 2GB 770gtx?
Use it on a 1080p TV at the moment, hoping to get a 4k TV in the future though.

The point is the cooler isn't trash and it's the same price.

GPU boost 3 means with 10 series cards non blower coolers are really preferable.

Is there a particular reason these cards are so much cheaper than the MSI 1060 for example?

Is it just down to aesthetics?

i managed to get 1573 mhz from my old 970 for comparison

These cards use a blower to cool them, which can be louder, the others use a heat sink and a fan. which costs more.

WHY is that catbeans ? ?

Have this card runs surprisingly quiet most of the time with around 20-40% fan speed and doesn't go above 65 degrees under load, no over clock but stock turbos up to 1900mhz. Was pleasantly suprised when I started using it as it is a blower design (which I prefer as it takes heat out the case)

The 1060s run quite cool as is so although blower fans tend to mean more noise as temps climb, it shouldn't be much of an issue with these.

what's the difference between this and the founders edition 1060?

Blower fans are much louder than aftermarket coolers which is something that needs factoring in if your looking for a big overclock involving extra voltage. That being said blower type gpus are more likely to have support from watercooling companies if your looking to use a full waterblock. The aftermarket gpus are not guaranteed to be compatible with a full waterblock as opposed to a universal block which will probably be compatible.

Also for people asking about difference in MHz ultimately it comes down to what the stock voltage is on the card and what the stock in game boost is, neither of which you can determine until you receive the gpu, so it's a bit of a lottery.

You want to hope to have a gpu that has a low stock voltage and a high gpu boost past what is advertised on the gpu listing.

Would a 1060 be a good choice for 1440p gaming? or would it be better to get the 1070? thanks, (upgrading from a 970)

Depends what fps and image quality you want. A single rx480 with a freesync monitor runs at 1440p just fine and is £100 cheaper.

thanks for the reply, preferably high settings on 60fps would be good, would the rx480 be good, or would the 1070 be a better choice?

I'm interested at RX480 (8GB) as well at exactly the same price MSI RX480 8GB. How do they compare with each other??

The GTX1060 is the better card unless you can guess the future and know how many games will take advantage of Vulkan API where the RX480 is faster and proven only in one game so far which is DOOM.

Thanks! 1060 it is!

Not quite cut and dry, the RX480 wins on a few DX12 tests with new games (usually at higher resolutions)

This is essentially 980 levels of performance so i would say this would do for max settings 1080p on latest games
