Some of these argos fleabay tablets must be on their fourth lap by now. The sequence being 1) 'professional refurb' otherwise known as a 'quick look' 2) issue to customer 3) customer returns due to fault 3) another 'quick look' seems ok 4) issue to a new customer 5) customer returns due to same fault... and so on ....you get the idea. I know i'm being cynical but i've been there, got the T-shirt. Bit like a lottery, you never know you just may get lucky.

Not a massive issue, but charger not included. Also, no mention of warranty. £5 for a charger and 12 month warranty from Argos...? Yes please.

Got a refurb from Argos for my girlfriend for her birthday. Has the flaky touchscreen issue. Initially wouldn't work at all, but hasn't caused any real issues for the last few days, so will probably hold on to it. Can always do a warranty return when the new Nexus comes out

£140 is a good price for a 32GB refurb with 12 months warranty though. Touchscreen issues aside, it really is an excellent tablet! The best I've used by a mile, and I've had a few. And it's also made me realise that 7-8" screen size is the way to go. 10" tablets are just too big.

Thanks - boys birthday sorted
In my experience Argos refurbs are just repackaged faulty items, so I'd steer clear. Good price but it's a gamble as far as I'm concerned - I'm not trying to knock the deal, just warning people that the quality is variable at best (I bought one a month or so back and it had a faulty backlight, obviously wasn't refurbished, just an ex display or store return, and I've heard similar complaints from many other people).

Are you serious? Aren't you the last person who would need another tablet?

If it were me I would sell the Kindle Fire HD and replace it with a Nexus 7 if you can. The Kindle has nice hardware. but the software pretty hobbled if you want a general purpose tablet.

Personally I think the 16Gb is good enough for all user who do not play large games. I have owned 1x16GB and 2x32GB Nexus 7s (friends & family seem to buy them off me or I give them as presents & then I get a replacement!) and have never used more than 16GB of storage. Incidentally, all the devices I have bought are either refurbs or second hand & I have not had an issue yet.

It will be interesting to see what the Nexus 7 v2 does to these prices, but I can't see them dropping by much - these refurbs are stunning value for money.
The reason there are so many refurbs about is because they are such a poor build quality and forever breaking. We have two and wish we didn't buy them at all. Sent off numerous tikes for repair, replaced and still have problems with new ones. My advice is to spend a bit more to buy a Samsung as these are absolute rubbish.
this is a really good tablet very reliable I bought mine 5 months ago from argos refurbished nexus7 tablets and its still working fine no issue and it is in like new condition you cant tell the difference thats how good their condition is..
Aint Curry's doing a sale atm £149 brand new? Think I see advert last nyt or this morning 8-) lol
yes 149 for the 16gb version or 189 for the 32gb

Where did you see that? oO
These'll be on sale anyway as the new version of the Nexus 7 is due any day now. Still a hot price for a 32Gb, though!
I bought one of these argos refurb ones at the end of May when they were £145 and it didn't work at all, just press the power button and nothing. Anyway, it took me until yesterday to get a refund so unless you feel like loaning argos £140 for the next month or so, I wouldn't bother.
I got an Argos refurb like this several months ago. It was like new when I got it and has worked perfectly so far. It's a great tablet. Buy one now!!

This site suggests 11 July as release date

I bought the 16Gb refurbished one from Argos a few weeks back when they were £119.99 and have had no issues with it so far. Looks and works like new.
urgh! Archos! no touchy! ;0

It's not an Archos - you can touch it. Go on, be gentle, don't scare it.
Perfect for Ingress.

Just turn the volume down when playing to avoid strange looks from the general public. Or Police.
Folks, found tab for £129.99, any better or?

Stay away from Nexus 7 refurbs, majority of them are always faulty.
I've had mine since christmas and never had a problem with it, nor has anyone else i know who has one so i'd say go for it!
Just gone for the 32Gb version with 3G. Got to be worth a punt with a 12 month warranty.

That looks like the 16GB version instead. As there is no memory expansion slot the extra is probably worth it, Tesco have the 16GB for ~£120 anyway.

Blimey, just realised. Thank you.
Good price. Holding off for the new one tho
These are nice little tablets. But, and its a big 'but'..... They have a fault with charging/switching on when the battery gets low. If your going to keep it topped up all the time, not a problem, but if you leave it in your bag for a week its a faff to get it started again (just Google 'Nexus won't turn on' and there are literally hundreds of posts. I got so hacked off with it I went back to an iPad mini (which I had sold previously as I thought the Nexus would be more flexible for apps and media formats - which it is to an extent). My Nexus is now a doorstop and just won't turn on at all.

My view. And it is just my view. I wouldn't buy another. Google customer service is non-existent, Asus support is even worse (couldn't find a UK based number - but might be just that I didn't spend 7 days looking), bought mine as part of the Times online deal, so couldn't even return to a retailer. Add to this the fact that its interface although customisable and with plenty of skins available felt clunky and it crashes apps a lot and the interface freezes occasionally and for me its just nowhere near as intuitive and stable as IOS. Sorry Apple haters, for me, IOS wins hands down, best tablet interface out there IMHO. Shame as I like the design and the screen is superb. Better res by far than the iPad mini that turned up yesterday.

In two words: BUYER BEWARE

Hope this helps those pondering over a Nexus or iPad. Cheaper isn't always better and specs such as weight and screen res can be misleading if you don't have the full picture.
To provide an alternative experience to the post above:

I had a faulty Nexus 7; contacted Google customer services and they called me on my house phone within minutes. I had the pleasure of dealing with some superb American-style CS (possibly the only thing I can say positive about the US!) and they shipped out a replacement promptly and my faulty unit was picked up by courier. All in all an absolutely seamless experience.
