After owning this and the new nexus 7 I can honestly say pay the extra and go for the new model. it really is an amazing tablet for the money and leaves the first gen in the dust. My iPad has been sitting on the shelf ever since I got the 7 and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.

Can you explain the differences?

is the gen 2 made by ASUS?

any news of a revamped nexus 10 soon?

I have original Nexus 7 and a Nexus 4 with 2gb ram and similar specs to the Nexus 7 2nd Gen. Nexus 4 is much snappier and generally better...

I can see the tweaks that the new one has would make a difference

2nd Gen is made by Asus

Yeah, I'm with drummerdickens and second the request to explain the differences...
Oh and I reckon this is cold as you can get a brand new one from Carphonewarehouse for £129
This doesn't support flash though...

Revamped Nexus 10 ie Nexus 11 and Nexus 5 likely coming end of October/ November

Flash is not supported on chrome browser.
but you can make flash to work on nexus 7.
First install firefox Browser and then install adobe flash player apk from a reliable source. Use the new browser to access flash material.

Old 2012 version.
The image in the post doesn't comply with hukd policies as the op has shown nexus 7 2013 version.

Hot though.

Agreed but the one from Carphonewarehouse is 16GB whereas the one OP has posted is for 32GB.

The new one costs almost twice as much. It really isn't worth it for fairly minor improvements.

msaini - thanks for that!
mailtotahera - well spotted
Android 4.1 - is there a need to upgrade and if so can it be done?

It will download the update to 4.3 once connected to the Internet.

The last one I ordered from them came in a plain box with a scratched screen, no charger or data cable. Had to pay the return postage myself to send it back

A shame! Did you ordered it from Tesco Outlet as well? I checked the comments at Tesco Outlet's eBay page and I couldn't find any recent bad experience with a Nexus 7!

its mainly down to the screen and overall smoothness. The online videos … its mainly down to the screen and overall smoothness. The online videos don't really do it justice and the new model feels far better in the hand. Build quality is also a huge improvement as well as battery life. I was also quite sceptical on its release but soon realised that gen 2 is a far superior piece of kit. Gen 1 is still great as a backup device or something for the kids though and at this price, you can't really go wrong. The new one costs almost twice as much. It really isn't worth it for fairly minor improvements.

how do you get this to play on a tv!? no hdmi or mhl capabilities as far as I know...

Heres a review to help people decide if the new nexus 2013 is worth the money difference

This model must have shocking build quality. Every other day there is hundreds of refurbished units available on eBay. How many of these must of been returned for a fault?

Is it worth buying this for a Christmas present or better waiting till nearer the time? thanks

Refurbished probably includes returned items within the seller return window, not only faulty ones.

Just bought one for the gf, i've personally have just got the new one and very impressed, the screen is perfect for watching some HD netflix's on. I own an iphone 5 which i still love but think the nexus is great because it's not as locked down as apple products are (could still use a SD card slot) & been waiting for a deal like this, best price I've found but be quick, it's not getting any cheaper than this!

BTW if you think they have thousands of refurbs you must be really gullible, they are trying to get rid of dead stock quickly before everyone is only interested in the new one, massively reducing the price of a new product raises questions as to why its been reduced so much but a refurb in perfect condition you would expect to be cheap, company mind games! (well thats what i think anyways, i'll let you know when i receive mine)

Yup, my bag!
Brain just registered the 'Nexus 7 32Gb Refurb eBay' @ £119 and assumed it was an Argos deal as it seems to be their standard price now.

No, items like this being sold by Argos or Tesco get thousands of returns that shouldnt have been returned. ie my charger was faulty NOT the tablet. The reason: How do I say this..... 'Non-tech people' buy from Argos/Tesco.
