Not sure ukmonkey
Hope someone will be able to clarify...
intergrated graphics, will run aero fine - games not so much!
hope that helps.
Looks like it'll support Vista's Aero interface, but doesn't look like it support DirectX 10 for the newer games.

personally I'd go for the hp one...
My opinions only:
The Asus has a slightly older processor - not that you'd notice it's still Core 2 Duo.
ATI Radeon graphics on Asus are better than Intel GMA on the HP any-day.
Asus also has 2 years collect-and-return warranty (pretty important on a laptop), the HP 1 yr (ship back).
Asus also has 2GB Ram, instead of 1GB on HP... the more the better for Vista.
Asus is Vista Home Premium - HP is Vista Business (which does not have the Media Center elements (DVD playing/burning) built in).
HP has Bluetooth which is a bonus if you want to link to a mobile/pda, but you can pickup USB Bluetooth stick for under £10.
My vote would be the Asus on this one.
HTH
It constantly over heats and shuts it's self off (already had to take the whole thing apart to get all the dust build up from the heatsink), the battery no longer works (so it has to be plugged in), the lightscribe doesn't work, the recorder stopped recording re-writable CD/DVD.
Totally rubbish. HP's customer service isn't very good either IMO.
Not sure what level in its range it is.
whats the details of the tesco one ?

Not the same product code AP099 vs AP999
Asus release specific models for resellers like Evesham and Ebuyer that you wont find on their website, they are unique product codes.
celeron mate, thats why its cheaper, the ebuyer model is FAR superior in every way
I've used various models machines from both manufacturers and ASUS are build solidly (better than HP IMHO) and one of the earlier posters has cleared posted the difference in this and the HP model.
This gets my vote. Might even buy one ....
Should I wait for a better and cheaper deal to come up as I would need it for middle of jan 08
lethal
thanks in advance
Thanks
