This is not a AM3 motherboard, its an AM2+ motherboard that takes AM3 CPUs backward compatible with DDR2 ram, true AM3 motherboards support DDR3 RAM only.

Asus have their list of AM3 motherboards rather misleadingly shown, most are just AM2+ DDR2 boards that are backward compatible with the new AM3 processor, only the M4A78T-E and the M4A79T Deluxe are TRUE AM3 motherboards currently in their list that only accept AM3 multicore processors rather than AM2/AM3 processors and DDR2 memory that this board supports.

You are right, it is a AM2+ motherboard (I'll change title)

Sellers are also mixing the category of this board in either AM2+ or AM3

Thanks

You're welcome, its more a fault of ASUS really to put these as AM3 as its misleading Its a confusing time as well reading up on it all, took me a while to know whats what in the world of Phenom II and AM3.

To know for sure, AM3 socket only has 938 contacts right? (i'll start counting )

As long as you dont break off two pins from an AM2 processor and try fitting it into an AM3 only motherboard I think you will be fine
