I know this might be overkill for most people but saw this deal while searching for a good mono for a new build.
Best next price I could find was around 220 on Amazon.
Couldn't find the description of the offered CPU cooler included but I'm sure it is to be discarded on arrival or sold by a punt
Edit- it's actually a nice Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Air CPU Cooler - thanks to erayser

Thanks! Added to description 😊

I have this exact motherboard, other than some bios wierdness it's really really good. Great features. Will not disappoint

Presumably trying to clear stock as it doesn't support Intel's new Coffeelake CPUs.

that's a great price, especially with the free cooler. cheapest its ever been.
ordered thanks

This is a (not socket) platform z170.

OP, that is very important info as this is 2 generations out from the latest motherboard, specifically, this motherboard will not work with the 8xxx line of Intel chips.

This will work with the 7xxx line of chips, but will likely require a motherboard bios flash.
Edited by: "Nate1492" 18th Oct

Unless it's from back when they were first released it should already the new bios that supports the 7 series CPUs.
Otherwise you will need to borrow any 6 series or compatible CPU and flash the bios and then return.
Unless I'm mistaken. They can be flashed without a CPU via USB anyway.

Ebuyer, no thank you. Returns-gate springs to mind.

It isn’t ‘Socket z170’. There’s no such thing. It’s Socket H4 or LGA 1151

Not op's responsibility to provide all of that. Someone should do their research first.

This board was 250ish on release. It's age is the reason for reduction and its a great price with the cooler for brand new. I'd been looking at it second hand for a ton.

Heat.

Expired out of stock, kinda glad as now i cant convince myself to purchase it

You are correct, but only in the most pedantic way. Yes, it is socket 1151, but the most important thing is there are TWO socket 1151s right now, so not mentioning it is z170 or the first version is a bad idea.

Sure it is. This is a deals website where you vote deals based on how good they are and how much they help.

Misleading deals for extra points? That's not cool. There are going to be unhappy 8xxx buyers if you don't mention it.

But hey, if you are all for misinformation, HI FIVE! But you can maybe help next time.

They are going to be unhappy 8xxx buyers because they haven't done their research. Not because op never listed compatible components.

People would never post details if we required people to go to the n'th degree on description.

I'm all for DEALS, particularly the HOT UK variety and this falls within that category. Whether or not the information you request is listed, this is still hot.

Cold for me. Who wants 2 gen old brand new mobo on clearance deal just because it's high-end?

-Not Coffee Lake compatible.
-You'll need 6th gen CPU to update bios for 7th gen compatibility..
-6th Gen is now outdated and need liquid cooling to reach 8700K clocks...

Worth to mention 8th gen have more cores and threads than 6/7th gen!

Out of stock anyway

I think it's unfair to say so, 6 and 7 series CPUs are still being sold and overclock very well. It may not be for you and your use case, but it may well be a great deal for others.

Calling this a z170 motherboard is *not* details, it is the basic motherboard.

Socket 1151 is 'nth detail' z170 is the actual important descriptive part. Why mention socket 1151 when there are actually 2 versions of it?

There are the following motherboards from Asus MAXIMUS line.

ASUS Maximus X Hero
ASUS Maximus IX Hero
ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

All three of these are socket 1151, except, the X Hero is the second version of socket 1151 which *doesn't work* with other socket 1151.

But you know what actually separates the products nicely?

Z370 X
Z270 IX
Z170 VII

I don't know why you want to fight about this. This is vital information for a confusing series of names/boards.

You are STILL attacking about this?

The person typed "Socket 1151" yet not Z170.

No one describes a motherboard by their socket, you always use the chipset.

Whatever, absolute waste of time talking to you, you think I'm asking the world by suggesting a good deal post includes basic information. You fight as if you have some reason not to include the Chipset in the link.

Also, you haven't been looking for this board for a ton, or you missed the 6 months where it was under 100 quid from amazon.

uk.camelcamelcamel.com/ASU…rch

blimey, this constitutes an attack these days

OP copied the description from Ebuyer, blame ebuyer not the OP.

Oh and i wasn't looking for this board 6 months ago? But thanks for taking the time

Ta-ra

I'm waiting on the Formula IX to drop in price, wake me when it happens.

lol we're still giving heat to two year old motherboards.

intel are making a killing out of milking people.
