If you have an (old) 7 inch tablet in working order that you fancy trading in for an upgrade, this seems like an ideal way. ASUS are offering £50 cashback for your old 7" tablet when purchasing either of the models below.

Although I've given details for Argos (as they seem to offer the best prices for the 7" and in particular 8" model below), you can also check Currys/PC World, John Lewis (7" model is 4p cheaper!), and Hughes Electrical.

ASUS MeMo Pad 7" Models (White & Black)
*******************************************************

* Argos sell the 7 inch 16GB ASUS MeMO pad in both white and black @ £99.99. Model = ME176CX

If you haven't got a tablet to get the trade in price, getting this is a great way to save some money

Excellent deal for those that have cheap tablets from the far east

I've got the 10' Asus transformer to 101 1st gen.... Would It be a good opportunity to trade?

Surely there is a list of tablets that are accepted by Asus?

Nope, not published anyway. It just has to meet their requirements:

For your existing tablet to qualify for the Trade-up Reward it must have … For your existing tablet to qualify for the Trade-up Reward it must have a diagonal screen size of 7” or more and be complete and undamaged (reasonable wear and tear excepted) (the “Trade-up Criteria). For the avoidance of doubt each of the following is considered beyond reasonable wear and tear; cracked/split/damaged/water damaged, open chassis structure, cracked or non-working display and does not power on. Do not return any documentation or external chargers/storage devices or power supply units.

What's it worth on the second hand market? Maybe check some eBay completed listings. Just to be clear though, you don't have to trade in an Asus branded tablet, and it can be a 7" upwards.

Sounds a pretty good deal, I have an old pink 7" tablet which is near useless, was going to stick it on ebay for £10 but by doing this I could get a tablet for holidays which is actually usable.

Don't suppose the trade in will work with a Samsung 8" tablet - with a smashed screen? It still works......

I bought one of the 7" ones and tbh its not great , apps are all right but I haven't used heavily 3d games and show box /screen mirroring works well (wich is what I bought it for) but other than that its annoyingly slow , the web browser is laggy and generally not great and the battery life isn't amazing .
All in ,I wish I could buy a 2012 nexus 7 new again (best tablet I have used yet)

Mmmm maybe the perfect opportunity to offload that old unused playbook

I agree about the Nexus - but you have to make sure you don't install the Lollipop Android upgrade, which wrecks the performance - one wonders whether Google bother with any testing before releasing these upgrades. Some have said they've made a further update to correct their folly, but mine is still showing as fully up-to-date and is practically useless now.

Nope, sorry - check the terms, smashed screen definitely not accepted.

Yes, a great opportunity to trade up.

i thought 7 inch model was 69.99£ at very web site ?

Got an old HP Touchpad

Display and Video:
-9.7-inch XGA capacitive
-Multitouch screen with a vibrant 18-bit color 1024×768 resolution display
-16GB internal storage
Operating System:
HP webOS

I think I might go for this

The ME176CX is a nice little tablet, good spec (average camera).

I paid £79 from Curry's just before Christmas. They've been £99 there since I think.

I wish I had a tablet to trade in here, as I'd get another one at this price!

Which model are you looking at? This one is £99.99 - very.co.uk/asu…prd

The latest version for the Nexus 7 is 4.0.2, but there's a 4.1 release due soon. If you enable developer mode and use it to turn off the OS animations, then the N7 works a lot smoother.

Failing that, you can always download one of the old factory images from Google and reinstall Jellybean; though you'll need to root your device to stop it nagging about the available upgrade to 5.0.2.

i have an old tablet that is really poor and made by archos that i might just trade in. shame there is no 10" tablet on offer!

There are - johnlewis.com/asu…ack

hmm, can't decide if I should got for the 8 inch Memo Pad or spend the extra and get a refurb 2013 nexus. I've got the old 2012 version and it's slowly dying on me (plus one incident last week where I found it burning hot despite being switched off and not used for 24 hours).

Has anyone got any preferences between the two?

Does anyone have any idea if the TF103 CX 10" is any good please. I bought the 7" Asus deal from Tesco just over 12 months ago but have an old playbook which is not being used so a larger screen upgrade sounds tempting

Googling (duh) reveals a pretty average set of scores. I was sorely tempted myself. I tried one of these out the other day, and it was pretty good to use, but the scores... hmm.

I am aware of Google and have used it thank you. I was hoping someone may have actual experience of using one as sometimes reviews are not completely reliable. I am also disabled so reading loads of reviews is not always possible.

Thanks for your reply anyway

Details for peeps...

£149.95 at John Lewis, £50 cashback from ASUS for trade in of old tablet meeting requirements.

2GB RAM rather than 1GB in the cheaper model (ME176CX £99.95 before £50 back for trade in), a bit lighter, same chip set though....am I missing other major advantages?

Edited by: "morgie" 6th Mar 2015

All the other tablets are low resolution screens, this ME572c is full 1920x1200 plus the extra RAM should help alot.
Screen resolution is the reason I paid more...

Thanks OP. Went for the white 7", for one of the kids. The other one already has the same tablet (in black) and has been very happy with it.

Heat added, natch.

Have an old 7" rubbish tablet from about four years ago which has been sat in a drawer for the last few years which should be fine for the £50 cashback (the cashback offer is scheduled to end this weekend, so I just got in on time - unless they extend it, which I think they've done before).
