Hot, been on the lookout for an Android AIO for a while and never seen anything that compares for this price.

Nice piece of kit for the price.

a AIO with no webcam or keyboard?

Is there a version of this that runs Windows 8 + Android?

It does have a webcam, one whole megapixel!

I don't want to upset the apple cart, but I really can't see this coming...

Yes, they do that one too.

This looks similar to the HP 21 but this is portable (kind of as it is over 2.5kg of weight)

I bought this on Saturday and boy is it good 50% more though ...

I had been looking at the HP 21 which is also very nice and when you see the 21 for yourself you will agree, but few issues.
The slatebook screen is excellent - really good and it is nice to be able to type or touch.

This looks good for the money with the Tegra 4 but can't say. I could still be tempted for use as a standalone PC in the kitchen ..
Good find - I had never seen this before

Can this be used as a monitor?
How long before it becomes redundant due to the OS?
Can all android apps be installed on this and work as they do via my phone - Sky go, netflix, plex, tv catchup etc.....
Very tempted at this price but is it any good? (speed and performance wise?)

This is 120PPI, the slate 21 is 105PPI. Neither are going to be great, but more than adequate for most things.
Here's a video review for those of you with questions: youtube.com/wat…Pyw

The slate 21 looked and felt amazing when I tried it but got poor reviews and the Slate 21 Pro is better - but this is neater as you can use off the power - the Slates are tied to the power sockets ..

Very cheap.

can this run third-party apps?

There's no way they are sending these out. It's going to be another 2TB portable HD fiasco.

May buy this just for the wow factor.

Any yet everyone will happily use a 22"/24" 1080p monitor quite happily without starting to grumble about the PPI numbers - which will be lower than these.

It's an odd thing. Comes up constantly with phones. But I see this more as a monitor that has an OS built in. The PPI numbers would never even have occurred to me if it hadn't been mentioned in the thread.

Incidentally, I'm another one in the "don't need it, but for some reason want it" camp. If you were able to also use it as a standard monitor, I'd probably go for it. But as far as I can see, you can't. So I won't. Seems a good price though ....

... Or maybe it will... Seems I need lessons in google!

Anyone seen the other part of this unit (windows 8 dock) as cheap as this?

Don't see why people are doubting it's a genuine offer. It's a decent price for what is, lets face it, the sell off of an oddball sized stand-alone android tablet. Makes perfect sense as part of a hybrid when matched with the cool looking windows 8 base station but that bundle costs £1,000+. The youtube video showing the huge tablet perched on a person's lap looks faintly ridiculous. Can't knock the quality of the hardware and the built in connectivity though. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for asus to release android updates and I also advise against it being used as a portable tablet with young children about. It'll probably only last five minutes before its dropped or some little soul is crushed underneath it.

When the HP Slate 21 came out, I was thinking of mounting it on the fridge, however it was not practical as it was a bit too heavy, this on the other hand, I like and it will easily be held up by some strong velcro on the fridge. I want to keep it on there permanently really, Will have the clock and weather showing all the time and recipes on demand!

Just to figure out how to get the power to it permanently and bobs your fathers brother!

Ordering one now!

Is it possible to use this as a 2nd pc monitor when not using it as a tablet

I have the AIO version - with the Windows 8.1 base station - and the tablet on it's own is a great piece of kit and a steal if they honour this price. It is a bit long in the tooth given they've had a P1802T out for some time, but I may have to buy a couple for future use

For those who care, the battery does last about 5 hours of real use.

Maybe a bit too big for the commute on the train, which is a shame

How long until I see some tit walking around taking pictures of his kids with this?

Sweet! For less than £200, this is a steal. 18 inches is a huge tablet!
Admittedly it hasn't got the latest best android blah blah, but will you even use the kitkat features on something like this?
I'm mounting this in my home gym for music/movie streaming etc!
Thanks for posting!

This is the same as the HP slate for me, i like the idea, can't think of a use for it though. And I do still worry about these things in the future, I can't see this ever going above android 4.2 which is frustrating as in this form i'd want to keep this around for a few years. I'm still really waiting for the HP pro version to come down in price, the HDMI input makes a huge difference in the lifespan of these products, when the manufacturer decides they won't release any more updates I still have a decent monitor to use.

That said this with the base station does look like a great idea, all be it a bit overpriced, I do like that asus have at least attempted something different in this space, between the transformers that started it off and the padfone it's a shame it's not been more widely taken up
