Not bad. The 8gb is only about a tenner or so more. Makes a huge difference

100% right. Nobody should be buying a 4GB graphics card in this day and age.

Yes, to catch the people who search for the cheapest RX 5500 but don't check the memory amount.

Why not? I'd be more than happy with a 4GB card...

For a low-mid range card that this now is, it's fine. I've used one playing Destiny 2, GTA5, Division 2, Horizon 4. All of them on med to high settings with a few things on ultra, most games use about 2 - 3.5GB VRAM in 1080p. Even got Horizon 4 to run in 4k 60 on med and it was at about 3 - 3.6GB.

If you're gaming higher than 1080p and plan on using this for a few years I'd spend the extra and go for an 8GB.. But at the same time if you're expecting to use it for a few years I'd go for more than just a 580. I mean it's what's in the Xbox One X, and the new consoles out next Christmas will be way more powerful, and new games will mostly be using them as a baseline so you're gonna need more grunt anyway.

My RX 570 struggles with textures compared to many 8GB cards.

Fair enough - however my comment is still true. Not everybody needs a graphic card with that amount of VRAM.

Yeah I understand for light games like CSGO it's probably unnecessary.

I'm running 1600x paired with 580 4 gb and even RDR2 is easily playable on 1080p with medium settings getting around 50fps.More vram would help, but it's still good performance.
i have a 580 4gb card. while i can currently play most games at 1080p on ultra or high, i wish i got the 8gb one because games are now creeping over the 4gb min spec. so for the extra money, getting an 8gb will squeeze some extra life out of it further down the line.
Sick name OP, Heat added

Yeah still good 1080p performance and better optimization on rockstar's side would help.
