This looks a decent price actually for a good spec laptop, capable of running all the latest games in 144hz glory. Let's have a look at the specs shall we?

CPU - i7 8750H 6 core, 12 thread badboy. Nuff said.
Gpu - GTX 1070 8GB, Nuff said.
SSD - 512gb nvme SSD, nice.
Display - 15.6" 1080p 144hz anti glare, very nice.
Ram - 16GB DDR4 2666mhz, nice and speedy.

The price. The older processor, the older GPU.

But its still 8th Gen, and im not one of those who believes that just cause they add a 1 to the Generation every year that it reflects on the spec of the hardware.
I'm looking for a laptop to play the new Doom game. Would this laptop be able to play the game with decent graphics.

It's 2 generations old at this point. The gpu will be 2 generations old soon. It isn't priced as 2 generations old.

Belief has nothing to do with it.
It's decent enough machine but as others have said, for the spec, this is no bargain. Asus with 1070s are likely to overheat which means throttling. 1070 is the non rtx old gen card. CPU is decent enough I suppose. FHD screen is also decent but not great. 512GB storage is poor even if it is NVMe. Last year this time, this might have been a good deal, now it looks a little over priced.

You can do better for the money - you can spec this one with RTX 2070 for cheaper than the one in this deal: hotukdeals.com/dea…112

It could, but it isn't as good as you could get for this price.

Can someone please post a better spec machine for the same price or lower ? With say a 9th or 10th gen i7 processor from a decent manufacturer.
Thank you

Someone did above. The Ryzen 5 3600 is at least as good as of not better than an i7 from what I have read. It again has a 144hz screen and also an RTX GPU. Not the best option for a laptop with a desktop class CPU but still better value

So you are upgrading the GPU for £181 but leaving the standard Ryzen 5 ?
I wouldn't say thats better spec just cause the GPU is better

It's a desktop Ryzen 5, which is actually better than a laptop i7.

Didn't realise it was a desktop, isnt that like comparing a van to a car just cause they both have a 2.5L engine ?

No, it's a laptop with a desktop-specification processor.

Silly me, can you point me to the LAPTOP store that sells laptops with a 55" screen !
1070 is still a beast tbh.
i7 8750h basically the same as the 9750h.
SCAN is located not far from me, and whilst I like supporting local companies, SCAN is not the cheapest of retailers, and never has been. I will say this for them though, they do offer 2yr warranties on a lot of products when the manufacturer may only offer 1yr. I don't know what warranty this ASUS has though. You might want to look at SCAN's 3XS systems!

its out of stock

Got all excited then mate
Bear in mind this mobile gpu is not a ‘max q’ meaning it’s not power limit gimped it’s actually on par with some of the newer mobile gpu especially after a modest overclock, I get +150 core +400 memory which brings my mobile 1070 on par with desktop 1070 clocks and performance
There's so much bad stuff here I can't read it.

Look up the ASUS G14. The new Ryzen 4xxx line is significantly faster, and more power efficient than anything Intel has to offer. All for less than this laptop, and with better screens.

Please research into this yourself, and the new RTX super gpus being released in 1 week.
You can get the new ASUS TUF with a with a Ryzen 4800H and 2060 mobile plus 16GB of 3200mhz RAM for £1299.

Not a lot between these two laptops

The 4800H and 8750H are both 45w CPU consume similar power (you want a 4800HS for lower power consumption!)
The GPU's are similar, 1070 is 5% faster because it's not so power limited, and can overclock better but you lack RTX capability, higher frames but lower detail I guess. - userbenchmark.com/Use…473 compare this to RTX 2060 mobile
2666 > 3200 RAM speed I think won't make a huge difference.
Where the TUF wins though is in battery life - you mentioned the model with the 90wh battery!! excellent capacity, whereas the intel laptop is only 56wh I think.

If you do plumb for an AMD try to get a HS variant.
