Best cheap processor to pair with this?

This isn't a budget board.

As said before not such a budget board, you could likely pair a tomahawk with a 3600 for just a little over 200 though.
I'd say that's a strong budget paring

If you are starting new build from scratch then i would say 3400g or 2400g. Otherwise 1600af/2600
Seems like a very solid board for the price? If you have need for the extra PCI express slots apart from adding the usual graphics card, e.g. extra m.2, capture cards, pro audio interfaces etc., this is worth considering.
Kinio01/04/2020 23:20

That's £10 cheaper then 3600

much better for productivity, 2 more cores, 4 more threads, Better cooler, ~5-10 fps in favour of the 3600 in gaming

It doesn't really lead over the 3600 in terms of gaming, the better IPC wins for gaming, productivity the gap is in favour of the 2700x but not by much

That's exactly what I said. Not so good for gaming, but dominating in productivity.

I want to replace my 6700k. I'm a bit out of touch with amd, what would be a good upgrade here, with this board?

Whats your budget for CPU. Or even CPU and GPU?

Well I'm just thinking of doing it bit by bit. I'd buy this mobo. And probably only want to spend a couple maybe three hundred on a cpu. I was thinking 3800x but I'll have to look at some benchmarks etc.
Edited by: "tjc2005" 1st Apr
You are looking at the 3700x (around 250) or 3800x (Just under 300). These are great CPU's.

It's be pretty mad to buy an enthusiast board and pair it with anything less than a 3600 to be honest. If you're going budget get an MSI Mortar and a 2600. This motherboard is for the big boys

Haha dude it's not a great board tbh. No better than a x370 VI Hero which can be found for less than this.

Haha I don't know much about pcs tbh I know I need a new motherboard that'll let me overclock my i5 2500k but they cost like 60-100 used so I might just get a a brand new up to date one and a new processor

Save yourself 50 quid and get the b450 version if you like this board
amazon.co.uk/ASU…8-2

You'll thank me, as I doubt you'll be doing SLI/Crossfire anytime soon, in every other regard the b450 should be a dream.

Looks good although the general consensus is that the MSI Tomahawk MAX or Mortar MAX are better boards overall due to having better VRM. That said, if you're interested in this one, don't care about overclocking too much and are in the market for a bundle deal, there's a few deals out there to be had. Here's a selection that I've spotted while looking for myself over the past few days:

- awd-it.co.uk/amd…tml
- B450-F + Ryzen 3600 + Resident Evil 3 @ £269.99

- awd-it.co.uk/amd…tml
- B450-F + Ryzen 3600x + Resident Evil 3 @ £279.99 (£299.98 with a ROG Gladius II Origin mouse)

- box.co.uk/ROG…tml
- B450-F + Ryzen 3600 @ £247.99

Worth knowing that the Ryzen 5 has jumped up in price a bit this week so the Box deal in particular seems good value if you want one right now (it seems hard to get a standalone one for less than £160 right now!)

Disclaimer: this is more for people wanting a 3600 rather than something slightly cheaper like a 1600 AF (for example)

Hope that helps!

Where? Just saying because I own one and it'd be annoying to see it depreciate so much

Sad case of affairs, PC components as with many good, they will very rarely retain or mature in value. As X470 was effectively an improved/fixed X370 chipset it will by it's very purpose cause the X370 boards to drop in price. I've seen your board going for £120 - £160 on eBay alone.
