I have a GL552 which I think the build quality is good, I'm guessing the GL553 is the next gen so build quality should be good still

what if your not a game player? is it good for everything else and does it play Blu-ray discs.

Not really. Benchmarks give the 980m the lead in many areas.
I'd want a minimum of a 1050 Ti, or at least wait for more laptops with a proper Max-Q design.
Have one of these, when they launched. Rock solid after 5 years putting heavy use. I could play almost everything on the Medium-High settings depending on the game. Great option as well for people that looks to edit movies and work with post production.
