In case you're looking for reviews, its model number is GL702ZC-BA084T, which seems to be a custom-tailored sub-model sold only at JL.

According to the product page, the SSD drive is a SATA3 M.2, which is a slight disappointment (not NVMe)

Note: Amazon.co.uk has price matched.

Equal to 1060 mobile card.

This version is only 4gb of ddr5. Is there a version with 8 gb? Sounds like it is much more equivalent to 3gb of 1060?

No only 4gb available. This card sit between 3gb & 6gb 1060. Depending on the game it sometimes perform better than 6gb 1060. However initial bios is crap and turbo not worked properly.

not entirely true. the 1060 3gb has less cores than the 6gb variant and digital foundry reccomended 4gb at least for solid high 1080p settings.

also this laptop should have freesync.
iirc the laptop 3gb doesnt have less cores than the 6gb version, its only the desktop versions that have different cores
Seems cracking value. Had issues with amd/Radeon drivers on past PCs (turning me into an Intel/Nvidia fanboy admittedly) so initial ones being rubbish doesn't surprise me. Would be the main thing that would put me off honestly.

it's mental that it only comes with 1 headphone jack. smth that would definitely annoy me not having ports for a separate mic and headphones. someone buying it will probably only use it in places where they can run it off the mains, but it's worth noting it has a pretty short battery life too.

Short battery life and gaming laptops go hand in hand, especially at this price point, sadly. Though this one seems particularly power hungry from what I could read.

Mildly annoying, but I wouldn't have said mental. It's a 4-pole combo jack, so if your headset doesn't do USB, doesn't do combo, and you don't wanna use the built-in mic, you just need a £2.50 passive adaptor from ebay.

I was annoyed about it on my laptop until I got a new IEM+mic combo and found it already had the combo plug on it.

It's a matter of choice I guess, but I very much prefer that combo jack, just 1 plug for both, unless you use separate mic and headphones is the way to go

Get a splitter or USB microphone, seems like a very solvable problem.

ASUS GL703VM-EE059T ROG Strix SCAR, FPS Edition, 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-7700HQ, 16 GB RAM, 120 Hz 100 Percent sRGB Display, Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB GPU, 1 TB FireCuda SSHD and 256 GB SSD, Full RGB Keyboard) amazon.co.uk/dp/…7MB

Sorry to hijack but saw this and was thinking of making a purchase. Just have a nagging feeling I'm paying over the odds for basically a nice big screen! If it had a 1070 I'd deffo be in .. no g sync either but apparently it shouldn't affect performance too much.

Opinions appreciated

This is potentially better value but depends if you would be using a external screen for home use as the screen isn't as good and it's a smaller form factor. Will want to upgrade the RAM.

I did consider one of those but it won't be used with an external monitor so the screen quality is a big factor for me. Have sold my old MacBook which was barely ever used for around 1300 so not really a big outlay.

Paid less than that for a 1070 Alienware, definitely overpriced
RX580 will struggle to drive a 17 inch screen, it lacks the power to handle the larger sized pixels
I think it has freesync too
